I have a vague memory of seeing Tom Kiernan play for the Barbarians - would have been early seventies I think but I can’t find any convenient record so may well be a false memory / imagining. Either way RIP : good player.

Think Borthwick made a big mistake taking off Burns. Hegarty is not a 10. Think Van Poortvliet would have been better there. Absolutely. It seemed clear at the time it was a big risk. Lest we forget, there were two instances of rule trashing around the safety car. It wasn’t just a brain fart in my opinion - his patronising dismissal of Toto’s objections was outrageous.

I would worry that (Sockwithaticket) might be too much change at once - I’d be happy to see Ben Youngs dropped for one of the young chargers ; I rate them both. 12 is tricky but I think I would go with Slade outside Smith and Malins would be on my bench.
