Re: The Official English Rugby Thread

29 or 41 depending on which stats you want to believe. Didn't win many turnovers but was a pain in the hole for Leinster all game. Huge engine.

Re: Not Heineken Cup 23/24

Enjoyable, both the game and the result.

Dupont up there with Carter as the best I've seen in the modern game. JGP did everything he could and had many outstanding moments, and clearly deeply second best. Dupont is just that good.

Mercer throws a dreadful offload and Sharks nearly score again. Game over.

Re: Not Heineken Cup 23/24

Mercer gets ragdolled in contact and coughs it up for a near try. Fair fucks to Austin for calling a spade a spade though.

Akkerman's anger at being substituted is related, I suspect.

Very fun end to this game mind

Re: Not Heineken Cup 23/24

There we go. Glaws with some early momentum in the sharks half and Mercer throws an obvious pullback instead of just carrying the fucking ball and the inevitable intercept means the sharks get a penalty 5m from the glaws line.

Edit: snap!

Re: Not Heineken Cup 23/24

Fascinating watching Mercer in this half. He's practically the only person carrying regularly for Glaws, but he got smashed backwards a few times early on and he's given up on trying to carry directly into contact now. He's trying to step every time but just gets easily ankle tackled, and his pull b...

Providing in a comp you use players registered for said comp I don't know how you'd police it beyond that. I can imagine the league sponsors, game sponsors and TV company are a bit pissed off at having to sponsor/show a second rate game. It is this that will drive the money away from the game, why ...

A lot of that was Labour people who hated Corbyn saying ‘don’t know/won’t vote’ who then did so. Lots of people hate, hate the idea of a Labour government. The Tories will lose but they’re not about to be wiped out like the Canadian Tories were in the 90s Labour people didn't really have anyone els...

Re: Stop voting for fucking Tories

It's a nonsense, but we can dream... Corbyn was polling far behind the Tories in the run up to 2017, about 23% to the Tories 40%+, he was over 20 pts behind at times. That's where predictions of Labour wipe out come from. Corbyn then closed the gap in the final two months won over 40% and was 2.5 p...

Shortly before the Care incident it looked like Lynagh was pretty obviously impeded off the ball while chasing a kick. Potential yellow card for Saints in that. ...

If people following the URC like the URC that's great, but an African teams have no business in a European event, and worse it's not even a North African set of sides so the travel is way too much (even before one considers climate change and that flights should be discouraged) It used to be a Euro...

Yup until that moment, O'Flaherty looked possibly the sharpest winger on the pitch. Twice during the game Quins allowed poor high balls to end up in Sale hands - it's almost as if they have a great plan for when it's a good kick but if it's far too short no one knows what to do. There's maybe been SA sides in the Pro/URC for longer than you think. Definitely no correlation. SA sides joined in 2021. Ireland were #1 in the world going into the RWC in 2019. Scotland are the same rank now as they were in 2017/18 (I will agree they have improved on that team, but that era was t...
