Re: The Brexit Thread

I thought the UK was one of the states generally in favour of Turkey joining the EU? Did that change?

Re: The Official Cricket Thread

Sounded like Wood created quite a few chances early in the day and was rather unlucky.

Overall, it does seems wrong not to have picked one of Broad or Woakes. These are much more their conditions.

Re: The Official Cricket Thread

Not v impressed by England's bowling. Anderson was ok at the start of the day and Wood got a little unlucky with edges not flying to hand, but the Windies have given the lesson in how to bowl in English conditions, and we're not following it.

Looks like Holder is moving it from good areas too. Difficult for the batsmen.

Re: The Official Cricket Thread

We've had juniors training for weeks at our village club, in small groups. Full return expected this coming weekend, subject to arranging fixtures and getting the pitch prepared beyond danger-levels. It should be a bowler's summer. Don't like Broad's New Look. He's become the bully in The Karate Kid.

Re: Your Favourite Conspiracy Theory

Judas Iscariot betrayed Jesus Christ.

More seriously, that the British and Roosevelt knew in advance about Japan attacking Pearl Harbour and arranged for the better part of the US Pacific Fleet to be out that day.

They're specialist in that they wouldn't be allowed to play in anything else.

You can play squash in whatever you want, so long as they don't mark the court.

Re: When is a sport not actually a sport?

I'm struggling to think of any sport or leisure activity that does not require some particular form of footwear at a serious, not just-with-your-mates level. Well, I wouldn’t say there are particular darts shoes, or chess shoes, or snooker shoes. People will have what they are comfortable in, but t...

Re: When is a sport not actually a sport?

E-Sports....Drug use is pretty rife and the scenes are almost entirely unregulated and at the mercy of big money corporations So just like real sports then. Real sports have some testing regimes and are regulated beyond that. e-sports are essentially making it up as they go. Presumably, in e-sports...

Re: The Official Cricket Thread

ah good re TMS, prefer them to Radio 5 even if only because my car radio can never find the latter. Boycs is mentioned on that link, so perhaps he's retained a punditry role and just isn't commentating any longer.

Probably people like me who rarely post and couldn't be bothered to log in if only reading / lurking.
