Morne is a great footballer. One thing that I think he lacks is the speed off the mark to take a gap. Pollard is the same. Richie Mo and Dan Carter are great examples of a ball in hand threat from no10 channel. They have all the tools. I have no doubt he had some gas at 21. He was probably also 15kg lighter which makes a massive difference to acceleration and top end speed.Chilli wrote: Tue Sep 28, 2021 4:12 amYou never saw him as a youngster then.FalseBayFC wrote: Mon Sep 27, 2021 8:14 pmMorne is like Braam van Straaten and Louis Koen's lovechild. He has always been an unashamedly Northern Transvaal style flyhalf. His unflappable temperament would be an essential component in my ideal model of a flyhalf. Max Boyce was a Welsh comedian who imagined a flyhalf factory in Wales. There are more than a few parts of Morne who I would add into any factory that produced flyhalfs.Chilli wrote: Mon Sep 27, 2021 4:15 pm I think back on a young Morne Steyn playing for Sannies, and they FS U21. He was a running / distributing 10 who could kick. . Then he went to the Bulls and he had it all coached out of him by HM et al
Same as HP and Faf under Ra$$naber
Finn Russell - with the form he displayed in the third test - could probably have won the Lions a famous victory in SA had he played from the start. He has that kind of kick.
