I agree. That was a painful watch. And we'll probably never find out who is responsible... I wonder if she even knows.
What happened?
All the pressure got to her, and she fell over on four of her jumps. As a result, she slipped from 1st place to 4th and didn’t get a medal. She ended her routine in floods of tears.

Awful for a 15 year old to have to go through that.
Yes awful for her
Possibly the best outcome for everyone else competing

Indeed, although 1st and 2nd still went to Russians (who are unlikely to be any cleaner than she was).

At least it means they won’t have to take a medal away from her at a later date, and they can at least hold a medal ceremony. You still have to feel for a 15 year old girl being put in such an awful position.

Utter cunts.
And just to prove they are cunts:
It was "chilling" to see the "cold" way distraught Kamila Valieva was treated by her Russian coach after falls in her figure skating routine at Beijing 2022, says International Olympic Committee president Thomas Bach.

Valieva, weighed down by a doping scandal and questions over the wisdom of allowing her to compete, came fourth on Thursday after several mistakes.

There was no hug and no comfort for the 15-year-old from coach Eteri Tutberidze when she came off the ice, instead she was asked "why did you stop fighting? Why did you let it go? Explain it to me, why?"

Apparently that "coach" is known for destroying teenagers.
Zagitova, Medvedeva, Lipnitskaya were all wrecked after 1 olympic showing.

If that was the west, Social Services could easily make a case to remove that kid from the care of these cnuts. Clearly not fit and proper guardians.

So apparently it's cultural... we just don't understand the stick over carrot approach...

Is that out of the ordinary? What is the shelf life for figure skaters in the olympics? It seems like you peak between 15-17 and are washed up by 20.

So basically you have to be a skinny teen to have a chance of winning and children and teens are more receptive to harsh training methods than adults. Wether those methods are necessary I don't know but they have been very successful.

Successful in terms of medals.. not in terms of child abuse...

Exactly one of the reasons I'm not a fan of the Olympics.

Brought this up in my business of sport course... what's the point of all the gov't funding that goes into it? Seems that they're not really inspiring the public to be more active, so it's just an international rah-rah we're better than you at x, y, z event? Pump that money back into community sport, I say.

Not exactly like the west in things like gymnastics has been great recently. Training for these type of sports is harsh.
