Prob only be used as decoration anyway. Fastest yards we made all day is the rolling maul.

Why not? It's going to blow your tiny mind that we can criticise both teams for cancerous rugby.

The point of rugby is to ensure it never reaches the wings unless all other possibilities have been exhausted.

Safe scrum, get the ball, run a phase that's safe, and kick it deep.

Well, we won. And we briefly looked like we had an attacking structure.

The highlight will be seeing the reaction in here if Farrell gets MoM.

Well its a win, Forwards (except Stuart and Underhill) won it, backs nearly lost it.

It's weird how the Bath players were so poor. :problem:

Something of a vintage feel to this win. Pack stepping up and pens accounting for the points.

Do England have the lowest try count in t1 rugby?

FFS it's England not club rugby. You're the Sards version of England

Given the forwards mostly looked competent, how many of those 3 point scores could have been 5 or 7 by going for an attacking lineout, I wonder.

Might have been a teensy-weensy bit of sarcasm.

Van Portfleet was very good, Steward was good, the rest were sub par. I like Smith but he had a poor game today.

Super Jack Nowell, surely?

Farrell went well, played pretty much as a 12, kicked his points, no brainfarts.

What's funny is how insanely defensive you are of any Saracens player. Farrell has not had any criticism today, why would we react badly? He scored most of the points.

Not defensive, just trying to even things up. Farrell gets so much criticism. Heck, he even got criticized in here for England's pitiful 6Ns performance!

Another meh performance by Smith btw.

Surely evening things up would mean giving him praise rather than childishly whining at hypothetical slights? All very strange.

I think we learnt today that JVP looks like an option and Porter doesn't

You were griping about a possible reaction you invented to a possible future event

Fairly obviously a hypothetical but hey, whatever. I'm glad you were happy with his performance, I am too although I would like to see him and the rest of the backline run the ball a bit more. Certainly the more classical shape looked a mile better for him

I don't think Farrell did anything exceptional to be honest, actually thought Lawes or Genge were MoM. JvP made a difference, got the ball away quickly and his kicking was good. Steward is a brilliant fullback but he needs two fast wingers to move the ball to. His positioning is so good that his pace doesn't get too exposed but that won't always be the case. Underhill was terrible and I've got no idea why Earl isn't there. Saracens bias aside he would be perfect for this series. Also thought Jonny Hill played well.

Yup, agree with all that. I do think the shape looked much more natural today but we're still not providing any threat from our outside backs

Sadly, the only outside back who's getting the ball in space is wearing ye olde diving boots.

Backline still looks all kind of wrong, but we got the win and they all count.

JvP and Lawes the best players for me. Lawes would be my MOM, his best game for a while.

Honourable mention for Billy and Nowell.

Itoje and Underhill both confirmed out with concussion.

Underhill needs to think about what state his brain is going to be in long term, I fear.

At this point, someone else probably needs to do that for him. Probably should have been having conversations about hanging up his boots after the last one forced a two month layoff.

Not sure why JVP drops to the bench or what Porter or Freeman did to warrant their retention.

Equally you could say what did Freeman do wrong to warrant losing his place? Eddie isn't going to start Arundell and I'd rather Freeman get another chance than go back to Cokanasiga.
