The phrase 'tortured genius' springs to mind... poor guy suffered for years through the sinister 'care' of Eugene Landy after falling into various substance abuse issues, but his creative output was absolutely amazing and it's probably only us older blokes who can appreciate the scale of his achievements. The Beach Boys were huge. Their catalogue of hits speaks for itself.

Truly a shining star... RIP

Amazing musician and quite the man. He was the Beach Boys.

I'm surprised he lasted this long, all things considered. But RIP Brian.

So I'm lying here just staring at the ceiling tiles
And I'm thinking about
Oh, what to think about
Just listening and re-listening to Smiley Smile

If you should ever leave me
Well life would still go on believe me
The world could show nothing to me
so what good would living do me
God only knows what I'd be without you
And are there two g’s in Bugger Off?

Made the mistake of watching the Glastonbury set on BBC2 at the weekend, it spoiled my memories of him and the Beachboys! He was an undoubted genius, a generational talent, but a troubled man.
