Struck me as rather odd tooGuy Smiley wrote: Fri Jun 13, 2025 7:35 am The overhead replay of Rieko’s try was interesting. Just from a physics point of view. Angle, trajectory, that sort of thing.
Saders back in it.
Tell me how and why a player who’s been in the bin has to do a HIA before he comes back in when he’s been sitting on the sidelines for 10 minutes doing nothing.

How the fuck do you read the wrong mouthguard number?
The coaches have got to get a way to bring the soak tackle back in to the game, one player soaks, a mate immediately goes after the jackal, something like that. The insistence of driving the player back is at fault for these head clashes, at least a big part of it is.
Up here they are doing everything they can to avoid red cards, same down south by the looks of it

He’s a dirty bastard, he treats the laws of physics with scorn and disregard.Tichtheid wrote: Fri Jun 13, 2025 7:49 am Jordan did well there, but he really should have beens stopped .
Mark Telea is the same.
FFS Blues prop fails his own HIA and stays off!Tichtheid wrote: Fri Jun 13, 2025 7:46 amUp here they are doing everything they can to avoid red cards, same down south by the looks of it

He and Hotham are both playing really well

I think Reihana has better composure. He’s been very steady, every game he’s played.

Ahh. I had to butt out (at work) and so missed the decision. Good to see the WR still ignoring player safety.

Justin’s eyesight is always compromised by the flapping of his jawsKiwias wrote: Fri Jun 13, 2025 8:51 am Justin has yet to see a high tackle on a Crusaders player that wasn't avoidable

How rugby has changed. And coalesced. This reminds me of a T14 game. Was a time when a NZ team with a man adv would immediately look for the space. Now it's the same as everywhere else: truck it up repeatedly.
{EDIT} which is precisely how the defending side would want you to play. And the inevitable............

I think we need to tip a hat towards their discipline.Kiwias wrote: Fri Jun 13, 2025 9:06 am Never bet against the Crusaders goal line defense.
WOO HOOOOOOO
One penalty awarded in that incredible sequence of 30 odd phases is superb.

Your loyalty is admirable

On the face of it Caleb seems too one dimensional to gain selection. Maybe they want a sledgehammer out on one wing, someone that draws defenders or punches holes, but he hardly has a passing game to back that sot of thing up.
I prefer players with more of a multitasking approach myself. Just for comparison, look at what Reece gets up to during nearly every game he plays... he's at the ruck playing half back, he's coming in and playing over the ball, he can play deep in defense and even has a decent boot. We've got other players who can bring those skills and aptitude to the team, surely they're worth more than a massive lunk who can run fast but turns like he's on bulldozer tracks.
Agreed. Probably the best back 3 based on soup form would be Leroy Carter, Mark Telea and Will Jordan. At the very least those are the three that provide the best try scoring threat.Guy Smiley wrote: Sat Jun 14, 2025 12:08 am![]()

Based on precedent I can imagine that Telea won't get a look in as he is off overseas.

Yeah, agreed. I'm a fan of Telea, I described him as half man, half *tuna (tuna is te reo for eel). He's almost a supernatural talent for working through defenders. I don't think he'll get a look in now though, they'll want to be looking forward, I reckon they'll want players who can play more than one position or role. Full backs and wingers are obvious as well as the 10-15 thing. Smart, fast guys with good tactical brains who can kick is my guess for the outside backs. Jordan on a wing with Love at FB...?Hugo wrote: Sat Jun 14, 2025 12:33 am Based on precedent I can imagine that Telea won't get a look in as he is off overseas.

That's my favoured option... imagine an outcome and get righteously pissed off over it regardless of reality
