Because that's makes it reasonable behaviour by the Met? :problem:
Sure. Detain them early so that some copper doesn’t have to tackle a loon trying to stop the carriage later.

Or break up a fight between the two factions.
There is term for people who think that the law should be used (or abused) only when it aligns with their own beliefs or prejudices.

And there used to be an actual law in the UK that permitted the police to conduct the behaviour you want in red.
It was known as "Sus". Look it up.

At this rate it won't be long before the only acceptable form of protest in public will be to stand around silently looking glum
Rubbish. Today is a celebration of something good for a change. Protesting is for wankers.

Congratulations Britishers on your new King and Queen consort! They looked lovely and you should be very proud. Also fuck your royal family! Have particularly enjoyed seeing the scenes from the Indy march in Glasgow with the crowds singing “you can stick the coronation up your arse” whilst wildly waving the Lion Rampant Flag. Otherwise known as the Scottish Royal Flag.

They really are the best of us.

Sounds like a protest...but guessing this is acceptable protest
Prince Andrew booed by crowds as he travel’s to King’s Coronation

Prince Andrew was reportedly booed by onlookers as his made his way to the Coronation on Saturday.

Multiple media outlets reported the The Duke of York did not receive a warm welcome as he made his way past crowds on The mall.

The Mirror said onlookers vocalised their distaste rom the grandstand in front of Buckingham Palace.

You don’t have to be anti monarchy to be anti coronation. Other European royal families don’t do this shit.

With the coronation, the funeral and the jubilee, plus the normal money to the royals, we’ve spent about £850million of taxpayers money on them in the last couple of years. But yeah, tourism, because nobody visits Versailles.

Return the diamond and we'll call it quits.
Some South Africans are calling for the United Kingdom to return the world’s largest diamond, known as the Star of Africa, which is set in the royal sceptre that King Charles III will hold at his coronation on Saturday.

The diamond, which weighs 530 carats, was discovered in South Africa in 1905 and presented to the British monarchy two years later by the colonial government in the country, which was then under British rule.

A witness has described to PA the moment the chief executive of campaign group Republic was arrested before a planned protest in Trafalgar Square.

Harry Stratton, 30, who is the group’s director, said he was with Graham Smith and nine other people when Mr Smith and five in the group were arrested at around 7am as they brought placards to the demonstration from nearby St Martin-in-the-Fields.

Mr Stratton told PA news agency: “They were carrying placards that were saying ‘not my King’ when around 20 police said ‘we are stopping you and we are searching you’.

“Graham and our volunteers asked why and they said ‘we will find that out’.

“After that they arrested them saying ‘we are seizing all these placards’ and Graham said ‘why are you arresting us?’”

I did make a post saying that it was fortunate for the Tories that the Coronation was so soon after the elections, but if that's what you're referring to as a suggestion of some kind of deliberate conspiracy that's one hell of a stretch!

Meanwhile, not even this cop seems to quite know how to explain what is going on with regard to what is and isn't acceptable behaviour
