I'd love to see a couple of races where; they put all the car numbers in a hat; & each of the drivers picks their car out of a hat !
Let's see how Hamilton does in an AlphaTauri, or how many pieces Mazepin can break a Merc into
If you put all the drivers in identical cars and gave each of them a few practice sessions to set it up to their liking them let them race, Hamilton would still win.
And you'd still find a way to think it wasn't fair.
It's not just about winning 1 race, it's about being the best all season. It's why Max and Red Bull won't beat Lewis again this year / mockers

Red Bull are definitely creaking. The Spanish GP was a mini-disaster for them really. They never had an option to two-stop as they only had one set of mediums after practice and qualifying. Which is bizarre as they ran with their lower downforce rear wing in the race which causes higher tyre degradation. Add in that the Red Bull has been quicker than the Merc in shorter stints because of the aforementioned tyre degradation and it's difficult to understand why on earth they never at least kept a new or scrubbed set of mediums back in case they needed them.
Horner is obsessed with Wolff as well now. I bet Mercedes can't believe how easy it is to wind them up.

I can’t believe the amount of morons suggesting he did that deliberately.
There does seem to be an inordinate amount of morons on F1 comments sections
I miss Alan Bengio...
Leclerc’s gearbox appears to have failed before the race has even started.

Charles gooorn. Ferrari took a chance to keep him on pole (he probably wouldn’t have been fastest if he hadn’t caused the Ted flag anyway) and failed.

Good news for Verstappen fans. Not sure why every car now moves up a space on the grid though? Should be just an empty space in pole surely?

Yes. No one moves up.
Up to Bottas to lunge up the inside.
Just heard on coms that they will move up ...
Are you listening to it in Dutch?

Sky 1.
I guess position two is pole now. Good news for Bottas if he can get away well.

Even by the standard of dull Monaco races, this is a dull race. Maybe sombody can stick it in the wall to liven things up.

Not even going to waste my time watching it. Monaco must be the worst race on the calender for sheer boredom..

How many over takes were there in the race? Excluding the pit stops but on the track itself? 3?

I get it’s history, glamour etc, but what’s the point. Maybe it’s half points (or less), a nice hat or something for the winner?

Totally agree that the race was pants. But the outcome has made the championship interesting, which is good for the sport.
Mercedes rather messed up today, but Hamilton should take on a bit more blame - on a circuit where you can't overtake, you're not giving yourself much of a chance if you only qualify 7th.
Bottas must think himself cursed at this stage.

We don't know because the tv director didn't show them!

I think there was possibly one that was about to happen so the director cut away to a car going into the pits. At that point I took the dog for a walk.

When Seb came out of the pits just ahead of Gasly and Hamilton, he was side by side with Gasly going up the hill and for some reason they cut away to a replay of Stroll going over a chicane.
Then they were about to show the replay of what we missed and they cut away again to show Perez in the pits......

I just watched the highlights package - got bored - turned it off.
I keep giving this race chances - but it is the racing equivalent of a dirge. The cars are so safe now that the jeopardy is gone from the tight track. No passing and the race is essentially decided on the qualifying position.
Singapore seems to have got the mix of tight but chances to overtake - Baku also seems to have things right (with a few teething troubles).
But they'll never drop Monaco - so I guess that is just a free weekend to watch other sport.
