Nortje is lethal
Isn't it mostly about economy rate with t20?Rinkals wrote: Sun Nov 29, 2020 2:55 pm It's hard to believe that the selectors feel that Bueren Hendricks is a better bowler than Nortje.
He got severely dismantled on Friday.

Because it's a high scoring game?Bimbowomxn wrote: Sun Nov 29, 2020 3:25 pmRinkals wrote: Sun Nov 29, 2020 3:21 pm Stokes and Malan obviously deciding to get after the bowling.
Unusual, normally a conservative approach is seen in 20/20.
Stokes out - chasing a run-rate that's approaching ten an over.Rinkals wrote: Sun Nov 29, 2020 3:30 pmBecause it's a high scoring game?Bimbowomxn wrote: Sun Nov 29, 2020 3:25 pmRinkals wrote: Sun Nov 29, 2020 3:21 pm Stokes and Malan obviously deciding to get after the bowling.

You can knock it around for five or six an over and get the occasional boundary without taking risks when you are chasing a low total.
I think most people who understand the game understood the context.
Yes, but a more conservative approach early on with the asking rate at seven an over would probably be a safer option.JM2K6 wrote: Sun Nov 29, 2020 3:32 pmStokes out - chasing a run-rate that's approaching ten an over.Rinkals wrote: Sun Nov 29, 2020 3:30 pmBecause it's a high scoring game?Bimbowomxn wrote: Sun Nov 29, 2020 3:25 pm

Going at 5 or 6 an over and praying for a boundary means losing this game at a canter.
If you are telling me that knocking the ball around for singles interspersed with the odd boundary is difficult when you are chasing seven-odd an over, then I bow to your superior knowledge.JM2K6 wrote: Sun Nov 29, 2020 3:42 pm The more conservative rate of... miles less than South Africa at any point beyond the first 2 overs?
I'm saying we were miles behind the rate from almost the very start of the game, and we had to hit lots of boundaries to catch up. T20 isn't about excising risk, it's about gambling at the right time. England started to accelerate, Stokes got out, and they carried on hitting boundaries and as a result the worm looks like this:Rinkals wrote: Sun Nov 29, 2020 3:51 pmIf you are telling me that knocking the ball around for singles interspersed with the odd boundary is difficult when you are chasing seven-odd an over, then I bow to your superior knowledge.JM2K6 wrote: Sun Nov 29, 2020 3:42 pm The more conservative rate of... miles less than South Africa at any point beyond the first 2 overs?
Rinkals is special, he genuinely believes England are the devil and are just insanely arrogant. So whatever our approach, he considers it a sign of our moral failings.Paddington Bear wrote: Sun Nov 29, 2020 3:58 pm I’ll never not be fascinated by the way that the presence of England in any sports match can cause people to start foaming at the mouth.

Yep, they did scratch around for too long and their top order isn't in great form.Rinkals wrote: Sun Nov 29, 2020 4:11 pm I think that England probably made it closer than it should have been.

Tough choice for me between Klaassen and Smuts, Smuts just shading it by being able to bowl. Possibly give Sipamla a chance by dropping Ngidi?

I know we have the bowling to compete, but our batsmen are stuck in the belief that England are a much stronger team.
Whether they are or not, if you approach the game believing that you are not good enough, you won't be.Longshanks wrote: Tue Dec 01, 2020 3:41 pmPerhaps they are.Rinkals wrote: Tue Dec 01, 2020 2:58 pmI suspect another hiding coming up.handyman wrote: Tue Dec 01, 2020 2:41 pm Back at Newlands for the last T20, starting at 18:00.

I'm surprised you said that, considering how arrogant we are.Rinkals wrote: England probably weren't expecting South Africa to be quite so supine.
