There used to be a thread where people, including me, were posting about mental health issues. Thankfully the Black Dog has been a way for a while so I have not looked for it. But it was helpful ... as all talking about this is really.salanya wrote: Tue Nov 21, 2023 9:45 am Instead I actually looked up if there was a depression thread on this bored. Things that don't deserve their own thread

Most of their role is about 'sign-posting to support', they're certainly not meant to be a therapist or medication substitute, but if someone is in the midst of an anxiety attack the MFAs should be sufficiently trained to help manage the sufferer through it. Or if someone with depression is feeling particularly low that day and MFA is someone they can state that to, so that they don't have to bottle it up and stew on it.
Again, all in theory. How comfortable anyone would feel doing the latter in the work place to someone who may functionally be a stranger or at best a colleague you're friendly towards yet not friends with.

Not really, but I'll get through the day.
Thank goodness for dogs.

I'm not exactly qualified to talk anyone through anything, but I always try to keep the line "It's not about forcing happiness, it's about not letting sadness win" from The Wonder Years in mind. Their vocalist suffers from anxiety and depression, so there's more than a few things in their lyrics on the topic, but that one has always stood out.salanya wrote: Tue Nov 21, 2023 11:14 amThanks Sock.sockwithaticket wrote: Tue Nov 21, 2023 10:51 amSorry to hear that, Sal. So the yellow line is in the wrong place if that's meant to be the marker of where people can stand.

I have to start watching boxing again !!!!
Womens boxing is where mens (lighter weights) was years ago, before it became a complete farce

Benavidez vs Andrade kicks off in Vegas in about a hour. Two undefeated big-hitting super middleweights... it should be a good'un.

Probably does deserve its own thread in my opinion. Great guitarist with a unique, almost effortless style. Been a fan since the early 80s, very sad news he's no longer with us. RIP Geordie.

“Facts are meaningless. You could use facts to prove anything that's even remotely true.”
Well, not exactly. Only brainless tourists stand close enough to them.Sandstorm wrote: Sun Nov 26, 2023 10:37 pmAbsolutelyfishfoodie wrote: Sun Nov 26, 2023 10:34 pmIs it true that they're like the brain bugs in Starship Troopers, & that if they get you helpless, they can drive their bills thru your skull, & suck your brains out !![]()

Speaking of deadly animals, I'm not sure it's a good idea to encourage the animal kingdom to develop martial arts.
The one white patch on his nose just enjoys the shit outta this gift, & you can see his timing, & blow placement get better & better.
Plus, at least they wait till they're sure it's dead before they try humping it, which is real self-restraint for a ram

Woke up today to find myself the victim of card fraud for the first time. Someone has made 10 paypal transactions for 700 tick tok coins at £10 each. A quick check with PayPal showed the transactions were made using a Google Pixel phone in Hong Kong. PayPal quickly agreed that the transactions were fraudulent and refunded the money but were unable to say how anyone had circumvented the two step security,
where in addition to a password I must input a security code sent to my phone.
Not a lot of money but it's a bit disconcerting that it can happen because I take every precaution available. Also a ball ache as the bank insisted on cancelling the card and I had to go through a load of security changes with the bank, PayPal and Google. Also didn't have a clue how my PayPal account became linked to my Google account but it was even though I've never registered to pay for anything on Google.

That's brilliant and so typical of the slightly more pragmatic attitudes back then. My old fella used the tried and tested method of taking me into the middle of the pool and ducking under and swimming away.

I had two weird emails over the space of a week or so a little while back referencing PayPal... receipts and thanks for orders received. I haven't used PayPal for over 5 years. I freaked out a little and started out checking card permissions and the like, ended up clearing and deleting the account instead.Blackmac wrote: Thu Nov 30, 2023 11:33 am Woke up today to find myself the victim of card fraud for the first time. I've had a slow flood of emails advising my log in attempts to my Microsoft account as well... when I never use that (old Hotmail a/c and the subscription for Office only) and when I went to open that I entered an absolute wormhole of verification madness as it looks like someone had tried to change the back up email address on that account.
I see he was prompted to post an update saying he's fine and that someone played the outtake instead of the final take.
