Result never in doubt, barely needed to get out of second gear to win that. Need a bit more to beat the SH/France, but we should never take wins over the Home Nations for granted.

difficult to overstate just how much Farrell hurts us at times. Stupid penalties, no idea when to kick, poor execution of the kick most of the time, indecisivie with ball in hand, no personal running threat, etc etc. Coupled with Youngs' passing and kicking and it's amazing we ever score points.

Yes, pretty much this, though I think you are ignoring some very good kicking from both Farrell and Youngs on occasions. And they are clearly following Eddie’s game plan. On the plus side, defensive effort was excellent today and some relatively inexperienced players are gaining useful game time. Eddie is clearly using this series to develop stuff (whilst winning).

But despite that, Eng created little by way of scoring chances. They just ensured Ire had none (no mean feat).

Was musing during the game what would happen if you mated the Eng pack with Fra's 9-15.

Basically I'm saying the scoreline flattered Ireland, not that it was closer than it appeared.

It was so obvious when Young’s was going to kick - eng looked better when Ford is at ten and Farrell at 12.
I think Daly and billy V (who was good in defence today) need a break from playing in white. Young’s is clearly there for the duration under Eddie.

England pack with French halfbacks would be lethal. This competition looks like it will be an England France final, for me France will edge it but hard to read a lot into a few weather & covid break affected games.

In a game which was clearly won by England’s defence he made 25 tackles in 60 minutest. 5 more than anyone else. He’s clearly not as an effective ball carrier as he was in 2016/17, perhaps because of defences wising up to him, but he’s doing more than his share of the dog work.

The commentators / analysts did a feature on underhills tackling though. Quite literally took highlights of his display and praised them and May had plaudits from everyone. His name was mentioned in the man of the match discussion - but in a game that was won by the forwards, it went to a forward.

But yes, he is recognised and mentioned more because of what he is, not how good he’s playing. Even when he’s not having a good game (which is rare) the superlatives like ‘dominant ‘ are hurled at him.
He’s also a sarries cheat so should really be serving a ban, but seeing as England played Callum Clarke who should have had a perma ban, that won’t happen.

It will likely be France, but by then, if I understand ther FFR/LNR agreeement, their best 23 will have used up all their sanctioned appearances for this Autumn window and they'dwould have to play a completely different collection of players. Wouldn't be quite the test we might have hoped to force England into trying a bit harder.

While the report says that, I suspect it's one of those instances where there was some, but insufficient, evidence of something more and so the author just didn't go there.

IIRC McCall was also left out of things which has to be bollocks. There's not a club in the land where the DoR isn't heavily involved in player deals and remuneration packages.
