When Somerville was retained for this match, I wondered if it was to bat at 3, after showing good technique in the first test and Williamson being absent. Yet he's been sent in behind Southee who continues to have as much clue about batting as Grant Robertson does about economics.

Well that is pretty pathetic. Just come home boys - this has been an awful tour.

Patel deserves a rest and Latham should remember he has other bowlers out there.

Can NZ just declare in their second innings and go home?

Can you provide any evidence of this. Combined they bowled more overs than Patel and ...?

I picked this would happen - our brain was already on holiday and then had the added distraction of Ajaz's feat.

Finally, I blame Anon over the road who wrote that we didn't deserve the Crappers tag. Mockers bait for sure

This Indian team was skittled for 36 by Australia not so long ago, folks. The BCs have not suddenly become a poor team because of one innings.

Surely being skittled by a relatively mediocre Indian team just makes it worse

The relatively mediocre team that went on to win the series in Aus and make the final of WTC? The point was that every team can have a horrific innings but that does not mean they suddenly become a lousy team, but I am sure you knew that already because I mentioned it in my post.

So the plan is obviously to lull India into a false sense of security by allowing them to score quickly and declare at the first drinks break 400+ runs ahead, allowing us to bat out the remaining 8.5 sessions at 0.00032 rpo for the draw and a massive moral victory.

Brilliant!

Anyway, first ball of the day about to be bowled...

A target of less than 50 runs per session is eminently achievable. Go for it, BCs!!

India dragging it out.
To give their batsmen a bit of practice.
And for the sponsors and for those advertisers who paid for the TV spaces ... all over in two days would have been a financial calamity for both.

Maybe they're nervous about declaring again but failing to finish the job again?

Ravindra gets his first test wicket to break Patel’s monopoly.

Ravindra selfishly denies Patel the chance to take all 20 Indian wickets.

Good stumping.

India just 476 ahead with only 6 wickets remaining...

Kohli drags one on and looks at the umpire as if demanding he be given not out. Shades of WG there.

There’s plenty of time left to get the 528 runs.

You need 540 to win, so that probably a better target to aim at.

BCs do have the second highest 4th innings total in test history but even that would not be enough.

539 required. Two and a half days to do it in. Easy.
And are there two g’s in Bugger Off?

539 to tie, 540 to win. An absolute doddle
