That was fairly shambolic from all concerned, cricket is addicted to shooting itself in the foot

Weird tournament in so many ways. So many great upsets. So many games washed out or badly affected by the weather.

I still haven't watched one game live yet.

Saw a stat saying that there had only been 6 international matches played in Oz prior to November before, we're starting to see why. Rescheduling has to be preferable to this, even if it buggers up TV

Glenn Phillips ton up. Super knock considering the situation he came in on.

Southee and Boult say, easy-peasy, as they reduce SL to 5-3 in the second over. Phillips was dropped on 12, a very expensive drop indeed.

8 runs on the board, 4 batsmen back in the sheds, not even 4 overs completed.

It’s been an interesting match alright.

A low total defend. But the opening bowlers made it possible

Boult ends his spell with 4 - 13, a personal best and a MotM performance usually but not tonight.

I thought our net run rate was 4, and now is only 3.8??

Our RR in this match was 8 and SL's 5, so how can our overall NRR decline?

It is not statistically possible for our NRR to decline after tonight's result.

Everyone want another example of the ICC being absolute fuck wits? Look at the qualifying for the next T20 world cup. It's a shitshow.

It's being expanded to twenty teams right? So it should make it more accessible for the best associate teams, right?

No

If Ireland don't finish in the top four of their group, then o ly two of Ireland, Scotland and the Netherlands will be there in 2024. That's three teams that have all won games against full ICC members in this tournament, teams that have proved they're worth their place.

The ICC have made the qualifying regional, which ends up meaning that teams like Papua New Guinea will qualify with pretty much no competition. But there are only two spots for the European qualifiers. Despite having three teams in the world top 15 not counting England. That lack of global qualifiers also means PNG will never play any tough games, so will arrive at the tournament as utter dogshit and get massacred.

Associate countries get shat on again and again by the whim of the ICC with little or no consultation. Qualification should be on the pitch.

Net run rate must be based on average across all games.

Strange as I thought it was a per game thing.

Yes it is - we divide the two innings total by 40; after the first game we divided our 1 innings total by 20
