Second major upset of the weekend with Otago running out 47-31, Makos first loss of the season, probably needed with finals football looming.
A major surprise both here and with Wellington.
Tasman had it completely under control when I switched over to the lounge room fill of Aussie football supporters of the Brissie variety ... bloody Lions :wtf:

Bloody North Harbour smacking Canterbury around something brutal. 41 - 19 with 25mins to go. NH are running in tries from all over the shop.

Tasman retain the Shield and go to the top of the table 31-10 over Auckland - oops, 31-17 with an intercept after the hooter.

I'm coming off a week of nightshift and went to bed too early to watch this one. Highlights here...

Zarn Sullivan copping a dumb card is disappointing. Two weeks in a row according to Nisbo in commentary... very disappointing.

Cam Roigard on for the second half for Counties against Manawatu in Palmy, making his long-awaited return to action.

And he sells a dummy and scoots over for a try. Looking sharp.

The game has turned completely to Counties since he came on. And he puts the right wing in for yet another try

Counties runs away with it 45-26 after an exciting second half.

Gotta think Roigard booked his spot on the EOYT with that cameo.

I think they are safe now, as even though Canterbury can overtake them with a win, North Harbour can not. At best they can draw even with a bp win, but Counties won their head-to-head, which I believe is the first filter.

These results have become mental the last few weeks. How do you annihilate Cant and then get reamed by Southland?

He is so overdoing it, it has become embarrassing.

But Canterbury finished in style and are in the quarter finals.

Tasman just about to defend the Ranfurly Shield against Taranaki in Nelson.

The Mako fielding a handful of ABs, including Ethan Blackadder at no.8. Hope he makes it through unscathed...

Taranaki well up for this one, and leading 23-8 at HT.

The Naki have Tasman under the pump at 23-8 HT. the Naki’s defense has been impeccable but I wonder if they might have wanted a more of a lead, feels like Tasman have a lot more in the tank if they manage to wake up and start playing some hard running rugby. They haven’t had a lot of it to play with so far…

and I’m not sure about some of the ref’s calls. He’s very quick to penalise defenders at the breakdown but he’s letting a few go… and there doesn’t appear to be much in it to me. Meh, interpretation.

Great try, Taranaki!

Two on the bounce, for a 35-15 lead. Tasman looking shaky.

The second one by Rona was a stunner, almost ful length of the field
