I think the notion that the Trump supporters are the ones showing restraint is a little premature.

Watching the BBC and hearing the suggestion repeated that Trump's election victory has been snatched through foul play, I'm inclined to think that Trump is hoping to orchestrate an insurrection.

I doubt it would work, but who knows?

I mean there was a bomb threat in Philadelphia where they were counting ballots, and people arrested as it was reported they were on their way to attack an election location.

Rioting is open and brazen. People might be able to identify them in news coverage. Seeing how many people declined to state they would be voting trump in opinion polls, I doubt those same people will now go out on the streets and then riot.

But I do expect the fanatics to try and usher in the civil war that trump appears to be trying to provoke. Would trump be brazen enough to reverse the "stand by and stand down" instruction to the likes of the proud boys?

No-one actually knows. He's previously suggested he wants to keep senators in place rather than risking their places by pulling them into his cabinet. Progressives hope he'll pick progressives, but are worried by the noises about him picking centrists. C'est la vie. Unsurprisingly, not much has been announced what with the more pressing problem of dealing with the election.

What will he do differently with Russia and China?

He's listen to the security services and not give Russia carte blanche. He'll likely end the trade war with China, but isn't going to turn all buddy-buddy with them. He'll hopefully act like a statesman that understands foreign policy - it is his speciality - and listens to the right people. In other words, the opposite of the orange shitgibbon.

Will he continue to pull out of Afghanistan and seek peace with the Taliban?

No idea.

Not by giving them what they want for nothing in return.

What old stuff? Trump is still there. The republicans are still there. They still have control of the Senate (for now) and in Mitch McConnell they have someone who will stop at nothing to torpedo anything Biden wants to get done.

I know I'm on your ignore list, but I think that there were far more negatives to Trump's rule than that he was merely "irritating".

You say you didn't support Trump, but your thinly veiled attacks on Biden suggest otherwise, including the insinuation that Trump's behaviour in not accepting defeat is justified because of Clinton's alleged advice to Biden not to concede if Trump won.

If you cast doubt on Biden's ability to deal effectively with Russia and China, the inevitable conclusion to be drawn is that you feel that Trump has been effective in this area and that Biden will undo his good work.

Similarly with Afghanistan and North Korea. In Afghanistan, the US has responsibilities that it cannot simply turn it's back on and betray it's allies like Trump did to the Kurds.

As for health care, I really hope that you don't find that Trump's claim to have a "phenomenal" health care plan ready for implementation after the SCOTUS strikes down the ACA plausible.

Let me just add that I'm not trying to be confrontational: I have shared a beer with you at Pirates Rugby Club and I found you very likeable.

The dynamics of power and politics in America don't really allow for each "side" to be guilty of the same indiscretions.
