Hopefully he will die like that git Reagan. Not knowing who or where he is, in a nappy.
The only part wrong with that statement is, he's not dead yet..Hal Jordan wrote: Sun Nov 15, 2020 7:58 am Hopefully he will die like that git Reagan. Not knowing who or where he is, in a nappy.
I love watching little children running and screaming, playing hide and seek in the playground.

I think the notion that the Trump supporters are the ones showing restraint is a little premature.
Watching the BBC and hearing the suggestion repeated that Trump's election victory has been snatched through foul play, I'm inclined to think that Trump is hoping to orchestrate an insurrection.
I doubt it would work, but who knows?
But I do expect the fanatics to try and usher in the civil war that trump appears to be trying to provoke. Would trump be brazen enough to reverse the "stand by and stand down" instruction to the likes of the proud boys?
You could but it would be nonsense, Fangle.Fangle wrote: Sun Nov 15, 2020 2:54 pm You could say that Trump is following Hillary’s advice. She told Biden to not concede until every vote was counted, remembering, I presume, that Gore had conceded to Bush, to take it back a couple of hours later.
Remembering that the Republicans were doing their level best to fuck with mail-in ballots that would heavily favour Biden so there was no point conceding based on early numbers, you mean. You've posted some weird shit during this election!Fangle wrote: Sun Nov 15, 2020 2:54 pm You could say that Trump is following Hillary’s advice. The US election and the Republican attempts to destroy democracy are pretty serious, yeah. You've posted a fair few "both sides" comments which are pretty surprising to me.Fangle wrote: Sun Nov 15, 2020 7:42 pmGood grief, but you do take life seriously.JM2K6 wrote: Sun Nov 15, 2020 5:12 pmRemembering that the Republicans were doing their level best to fuck with mail-in ballots that would heavily favour Biden so there was no point conceding based on early numbers, you mean. This election is over, and I’m pleased that Trump has gone. But seeing that you are such an expert on US politics, maybe you can help me as to the future.
Who is Biden going to put in his cabinet?
What will he do differently with Russia and China?
Will he continue to pull out of Afghanistan and seek peace with the Taliban?
How will he handle North Korea?
What does he plan to do with health care?
That is far more interesting than rehashing old stuff.
Trump hasn't gone.Fangle wrote: Sun Nov 15, 2020 8:51 pmThis election is over, and I’m pleased that Trump has gone. He is an irritating memory.
No-one actually knows. He's previously suggested he wants to keep senators in place rather than risking their places by pulling them into his cabinet. Progressives hope he'll pick progressives, but are worried by the noises about him picking centrists. C'est la vie. Unsurprisingly, not much has been announced what with the more pressing problem of dealing with the election. But seeing that you are such an expert on US politics, maybe you can help me as to the future.
Who is Biden going to put in his cabinet?
He's listen to the security services and not give Russia carte blanche. He'll likely end the trade war with China, but isn't going to turn all buddy-buddy with them. He'll hopefully act like a statesman that understands foreign policy - it is his speciality - and listens to the right people. In other words, the opposite of the orange shitgibbon. What will he do differently with Russia and China?
No idea. Will he continue to pull out of Afghanistan and seek peace with the Taliban?
Not by giving them what they want for nothing in return. How will he handle North Korea?
Not enough, but if you're curious, here's what he's claiming: https://joebiden.com/healthcare/#What does he plan to do with health care?
What old stuff? Trump is still there. The republicans are still there. They still have control of the Senate (for now) and in Mitch McConnell they have someone who will stop at nothing to torpedo anything Biden wants to get done. That is far more interesting than rehashing old stuff.
This assault on democracy is still happening. I do not claim to be an expert on US politics and you don't need to be one to see the incredible damage being done to the social fabric of the US and its trust in democracy.
I know I'm on your ignore list, but I think that there were far more negatives to Trump's rule than that he was merely "irritating".Fangle wrote: Sun Nov 15, 2020 8:51 pmThis election is over, and I’m pleased that Trump has gone. He is an irritating memory.

You say you didn't support Trump, but your thinly veiled attacks on Biden suggest otherwise, including the insinuation that Trump's behaviour in not accepting defeat is justified because of Clinton's alleged advice to Biden not to concede if Trump won.
If you cast doubt on Biden's ability to deal effectively with Russia and China, the inevitable conclusion to be drawn is that you feel that Trump has been effective in this area and that Biden will undo his good work.
Similarly with Afghanistan and North Korea. In Afghanistan, the US has responsibilities that it cannot simply turn it's back on and betray it's allies like Trump did to the Kurds.
As for health care, I really hope that you don't find that Trump's claim to have a "phenomenal" health care plan ready for implementation after the SCOTUS strikes down the ACA plausible.
Let me just add that I'm not trying to be confrontational: I have shared a beer with you at Pirates Rugby Club and I found you very likeable.
I just find it difficult to believe that anyone with any sense can justify Trump.

I wonder how many people working on developing these vaccines; wouldn't be allowed into the US, if the Orange shiteballs immigration rules were in place years ago ?Rhubarb & Custard wrote: Mon Nov 16, 2020 9:01 pmthe mRNA vaccine probably started being a thing back under George Bush, and Snr. not Jnr., not that Bush, Clinton, Bush, Obama or Drumpf deserve much if any credit

I don't know if you ask this knowing a lot of where we are is attributable to an immigrant who at the time they kicked off research in this was working in Pennsylvania? So you never know. Though they are white which would have helped, against which she's a she, and Trump doesn't seem too keen on those outside of being allowed to mistreat them.fishfoodie wrote: Mon Nov 16, 2020 9:58 pm how many people working on developing these vaccines; wouldn't be allowed into the US, if the Orange shiteballs immigration rules were in place years ago ?

https://www.stuff.co.nz/world/europe/30 ... llionairesAmid the whirlwind of publicity, tweets from President Donald Trump have brought some bemusement. "Complete nonsense" is how Sahin describes the accusation that the companies sat on the results until after the election.
And as for Trump's claims of credit: "I'm not sure where the US government would have had input in this," Tureci said.

I see Lindsey Graham has been exhorting election fraud and death threats have been issued to the Republican Georgia Secretary of State and his wife over the election recount.
It's beyond any defence at this stage.

Rudolph W. Giuliani, Trump’s personal attorney and longtime adviser, applied Tuesday to represent the president’s campaign in its chaotic legal challenge of the election in Pennsylvania.
In a court filing, Giuliani asked the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania to allow him to join Trump’s legal team on the case, which seeks to block certification of the election results in the state.
Four attorneys representing Trump in the case have withdrawn since the campaign filed its lawsuit Nov. 9, and a fifth has applied to pull out of the case.
Giuliani was a federal prosecutor during the 1980s and won plaudits for securing convictions of major mob figures. According to PACER, the public records service for the federal court system, he last entered an appearance in a federal case in 1992.
In a text message, Giuliani estimated that it had been “four or five years” since he tried a case in court.

Sure
In the broadest sense "both sides"-ism is definitely fair, but oftentimes people are too eager to force too-specific equivalencies that ultimately don't stand up to scrutiny in their own right. The dynamics of power and politics in America don't really allow for each "side" to be guilty of the same indiscretions.JM2K6 wrote: Sun Nov 15, 2020 8:29 pm

International...
He’s going through a tough time - he’s lost to the worst candidate, he’s got all bar one of his lawsuits being kicked/laughed out of court, his lawyers are abandoning his ridiculous cause, he’s going to have to leave the country, he’s going to be remembered as the worst president ever and, well, he understandably a tad upset.
And still his supporters love him

he fiddled with his Twitter account, forgot which judge he was talking to and threw around wild, unsupported accusations about a nationwide conspiracy by Democrats to steal the election.
No such evidence has emerged since Election Day.
Giuliani needled an opposing lawyer, calling him “the man who was very angry with me, I forgot his name.”
He mistook the judge for a federal judge in a separate Pennsylvania district who rejected a separate Trump campaign case: “I was accused of not reading your opinion and that I did not understand it.”
And he tripped himself up over the meaning of “opacity.”
“In the plaintiffs’ counties, they were denied the opportunity to have an unobstructed observation and ensure opacity,” Giuliani said. “I’m not quite sure I know what opacity means. It probably means you can see, right?”
“It means you can’t,” said U.S. District Judge Matthew Brann

Trump fires head of Cybersecurity at Homeland Security Department Christopher Krebs for saying that the election wasn't fraudulent. As Krebs is now no longer a Government employee, he's free to speak to Biden about the transition as much as he likes.
Even when Trump's being malevolent, he's still a complete fucking idiot.
