You're obviously excited enough about it to post it so what is it? After the first day of practise in a new season, it must MEAN something, yeah?
Free Practice 1 times.
I know and by the time I posted it was already obsolete. Some sort of title for his work would be... good manners.

Stroll will be a nightmare this year...

Fernando has a Fast Car. Passed both Hamilton and Sainz in the closing laps with trademark aggression.

Places...

Verstappen
Perez
Alonso

LeClerc with PU failure doesn't bode well.

Merc not having the fastest Merc powered car means Hamilton is not a happy bunny, even if he was faster than Russell this week, after being behind him for all of last season

I reckon Mercedes will go with their other more conventional (same as RB/AM) design very soon, if not the next race. Pointless stick with zero-pod if they can't get it working after 18 months of development.

How did Merc manage to develop two different cars during strict budgets cap?

Verstappen was quoted this week saying something about the sprint races detracting from the main spectacle, the actual GP. They're a shit idea, another Liberty hype artifice.

If they're going to have them, then they certainly shouldn't have them in places where you're guaranteed multiple safety cars, & multiple incidents of cars smashing into barriers. The crews must be fucking shattered after doing multiple rebuilds under huge pressure, & then knowing that this is the first of what; 5 races over 6 weeks ????

On the bright side though, apparently this year the marina at Miami will actually feature real water.

Martin had to take this week off just to build up the energy and enthusiasm for the excruciating grid watch in Miami, where paid celebs feign enthusiasm while their over zealous security threaten people. Poor bastard.

Another dog shit race today.

Despite this being the track with the most passes last year, it appears that the only cars that can overtake there this year are the ones sponsored by a certain caffinated drink

Well even the rain couldn't prevent Monaco from being a complete procession, hopefully Indy delivers. In fact Danica Patrick is wearing nothing but a coat, so already an improvement

Turns out Monaco comfortably > Indy 500. 100 laps of boring, then 50 laps of boring. Then when it supposed to get good it descended into 20 laps of farce that makes Spa '21 a comparative spectacle with race control doing a Massey to gift the victory to newgarten.

Safety there was worrying, too many near misses. Tyre flying off a car over the fence, by pure luck flying through a gap in the stands and ending up in a car park.
2 incidents in the pit lane. How no one was injured was a miracle.

Totally agree, I'd add that the sight of Canapino's car slowly rolling into another smashed car sent a chill thru me, as you couldn't tell if it was because it had no brakes, or the driver was dead. It brought back horrible memories of previous accidents.

The majority of overtakes in Indycar seem to happen at the right at the start, before the long train starts, from restarts, & in the pit stops, & as a result drivers & pit crews take enormous risks & as you say it's a wonder there wen't multiple fatalities, or serious injuries yesterday.
