Hawkes running and support lines are just sublime. No-one, not even the big men, ever does anything other that look for space/weak shoulder and then realign to provide continuous support.
Absolute kudos. This is how rugby should be played.

Well he let it go which is good to let the game flow. In the NH it will be a penalty every ruck for side entry exc.

That's a separate issue. The Laws are there to be applied and not ignored at the ref's whim. Plenty of the Laws we hate: they should be changed.OomStruisbaai wrote: Sat Oct 30, 2021 7:40 amWell he let it go which is good to let the game flow. More rubbish from the ref. Hawkes clearly played that on the floor for the turnover.
We call it materiality.Torquemada 1420 wrote: Sat Oct 30, 2021 7:42 amThat's a separate issue. The Laws are there to be applied and not ignored at the ref's whim. I call it part of the problem underpinning why the game will never be global.Enzedder wrote: Sat Oct 30, 2021 7:49 amWe call it materiality.Torquemada 1420 wrote: Sat Oct 30, 2021 7:42 amThat's a separate issue. Well earned try for Steamers.

Some inconsistent applications yesterday: Otago v Wellies red card looked very much the same for the incident in BOP v Waikato which only resulted in a yellow for Waikato. Amazing that Waikato managed to win regardless since they were mullered up front. Wellies continue to be flakes.

It is. Hawkes starting slowly again. Maybe guilty of taking Northland too lightly.

I can't find the fixture anywhere listed as NPC.
Its been referred to as a non-competition game.

Weird. It's in the Fantasy Rugby list and also being televised.FalseBayFC wrote: Sat Nov 06, 2021 7:17 am I can't find the fixture anywhere listed as NPC.

As a aside, this female ref has been excellent.
{edit} It's been removed from the FR

Bollox. Got them the wrong way around. Always a surprise away win and so took Cant over Waikato. Figured Hawkes were a dead cert.
Nah, Canterbury have got this. Waikato no puff left and 20 to playTorquemada 1420 wrote: Sat Nov 13, 2021 7:23 am Bollox. Got them the wrong way around. Always a surprise away win and so took Cant over Waikato. Figured Hawkes were a dead cert.

Superb defensive set in the face of excellent retention by Waikato in the conditions.
18 phases in that defensive effort. Brilliant stuff.Torquemada 1420 wrote: Sat Nov 13, 2021 7:30 am Superb defensive set in the face of excellent retention by Waikato in the conditions.

Yeah. Dim. Have Cant on toast with standard pick and gos and the scrum, so why change?Enzedder wrote: Sat Nov 13, 2021 7:41 am Doing little back flip passes between forwards when you are 3 points up with 4 to play.
