Can you please ditch the first part of the thread title?

I can’t face seeing that for the foreseeable future on the front page!!!

England might scrape a draw in one test thanks to the weather... else they'll lose every test.

I had a feeling it would swing - this is going to be like Hadlee's effort.

First ball Burns bowled behind his legs as he falls across his stumps

Root ducks for cover - and Hameed looks like he's on borrowed time.

England out for 147, Cummins a five-for in first test as skipper, and Aus to be 150/1 by stumps

It's a good thing the Aussies are in turmoil coming into this series or we would have been in real trouble.

Burns secures his place in history alongside Harmison in the "Disastrous first ball of an Ashes" category.

I must admit when I went to bed after Stokes got out... I didn't expect England to reach a 100...

Now, with frequent rain breaks and a swinging ball... Broad and Anderson to skittle Australia... oh wait..

That was pretty tough watching (highlights)

There are an incredible number of Aussie players who have faces you'd never get tired of punching.

Are there crowd number restrictions? A lot of space for the first day of an Ashes.

I hate to say I told you so, but...

This is the worst England batting unit for decades, even before you consider that we dicked about for 18 months because of Covid and prioritising the T20 world cups.

To put it in context, they were talking about Harmison's delivery on 5 Live's breakfast five minute preview, that's how much it gets scarred into the memory.

I believe it's only happened three times before in the history of the Ashes.

The worst thing about this performance was the room it gave Warney to talk incessantly about rubbish.

He is awful to listen to.

TBF the Aussies bowled pretty well. Burns' dismissal was straight up nerves and pressure and he will be paying some seriously large dressing room fines. But most of the other wickets more due to decent bowling. Think that middle order of Stokes, Pope, Buttler and Woakes are going to play a HUGE part in this series. I must say that seeing Roots' 'It's not fair face' after his dismissal is always a joy. He gets a proper sulk on (as outstanding a batter that he is).

Is Hameed England's Smith? All ungainly arms and legs - but plays some glorious looking shots.

I was lying in bed with lights off listening to cricket on the radio and laughed out loud when Burns was skittled first ball. After all the build up and expectation it was entirely predictable and fairly took the wind out of the commentators. Must have fell asleep soon thereafter ...

The worst part is Burns was even further away from playing a ball that didn't swing. It was pathetic.

I went to bed at lunch. Disappointed not to see Hameed score a few more. He battled hard in that morning session.

Someone who has achieved a world record number of ducks in Tests in a single year (for any recognised batsman) just might not be suited to the role of opener?

Hee - I hadn't seen that graphic.

Controversial opinion - but when Warne first got into commentary I seem to recall he was pretty decent. What the heck happened?

Likewise - when I heard Simon Doull for the first time I was mortified - and now I think he is genuinely one of the top ones out there along with Bishop, Holding, Guha, Harsha Bhogle, Smith (and something I thought I'd never say) Atherton and Hussain.

My guilty pleasure is Danny Morrison (but only in IPL - no f'in way am I listening to him for a test match....or even an ODI).
