Here’s the thing about life, there’s no accounting for what fate will deal you. Some days you need a hand, there are other days when we’re called to lend a hand. That’s how it has to be, that’s what we do for one another.

They're re-using is name from his time as VP. So, he's "Celtic" and Jill's "Capri"

Pence is the monkey; not the Organ Grinder; he has one power; the deciding vote in the Senate, if required; otherwise he has no part in shit like this. This is the orange cunt, & him alone.

It feels like his last "Look at this, Mr President, don't they make you mad? Strike them down!" moment, where a cunning GOP faithful sticks something under his nose to enrage him, meaning that they can then feed the Biden reversal to the type of reasonable Christian who overlooked Trump's whoring, divorces and total lack of faith because he wouldn't allow gay marriage. There was a Republican voter on the BBC a couple of years back who basically said as much.

Do you know how much time Pence & the cunt have spent together, since the cunt tried getting Pence lynched ?

I’ve just seen that Eugene Goodman, the Capitol Police officer who put himself in harms way in order to distract Trump’s violent mob and lead them away from the area where senators and congressmen and women were hiding, was appointed as the Acting Deputy House Sergeant at Arms today. This meant that he escorted Vice President-elect Kamala Harris up the stairs of the Capitol for the inauguration.

A really nice touch.

Compared with this lazy bitch.
First lady Melania Trump did not write her own "thank you" notes to the White House residence staff who have cared for her and her family for the last four years, according to two sources with knowledge of the notes and Trump's handling of them.

The 80 or so staff who received the type written notes were under the assumption the first lady had written them herself. Instead, Trump tasked a lower-level East Wing staffer with writing them "in her voice," and she signed her name.

I wish I had your guys attention span...

Watching the inauguration yesterday... I just zoned out every time anyone spoke.. the poet, the bizarre religious guy, Biden... no one held my attention for more than a few seconds... I think I will miss Trump.. for some reason.. I found him easy to listen too... I think my brain is programmed for bullshit... anything rational it cannot compute or process... I've been brainwashed by the tik tok generation...

For me it was the juxtaposition of an intelligent, self confident, black, small 22 year old girl reciting a wonderful self penned poem at exactly the same spot that we had stupid, thick, brainwashed, white, pot bellied 50+ year old racist men chanting inane slogans copied from QANON websites waving their 'penis envy' assault rifles in the air. Whereas 1,000s of them couldn't demolish the pillars of US democracy with guns and weapons a small black girl destroyed them and what they stand for using only words. Wonderful.

It highlighted everything the Trump administration wasn't. Coherent, intelligent, eloquent, all-embracing, non-divisive and optimistic.

I watched the inauguration for hours but missed the poem - tbh, the whole thing was incredibly dull and, eventually, I gave up on it. Glad the poetry went down well even though I have little time for such stuff.

I did think Amy Klobuchar was very good. Things brightened up every time she took the stage.

So will we get this much obsessive following of the next CCP Congress?

This much slavish following of US politics is a bit weird.

Doubt it. The last four years have been the equivalent of passers by rubber necking at a car wreck, Biden's administration shouldn't provide quite the same circus to stare at with morbid fascination and disbelief.

Powerful poem and truly amazing performance of it. I bet she was absolutely buzzing after that - nailed it.

Let’s hope it’s a sign of a return of intellect to American discourse. We’ve really missed it on the world stage as they increasingly became a laughing stock

Onwards and upwards.

Indeed - it feels like even the press corp are looking forward to some meat and potatoes rather than the sugar fuelled dessert they’ve been served over the last 4 years.

The Whitehouse corp in particular were, to stretch the metaphor, periodically locked out of the dining hall for daring to ask for some vegetables instead of another chocolate fudge sundae and will probably appreciate steady access to more staid fare.
