Great stuff, France. Could well have been a 2-0 series win. Wallabies...woeful.

You'd think it'll do their confidence no end of good to come through a close result like that after blowing the last couple of tight leads at the death.

The goal kickers in rugby are so much more reliable than the footballers. And they're often kicking from further and wider out.

How a professional footballer can't kick a static football 12 yards into the postage stamp area of a goal repeatedly is beyond me. Simply take the keeper out of the equation by kicking it where he can never save it.

Two great test matches so far in this series.
This is so much better to watch and so much better fir rugby than New Zealand beating sides by 70 to 100 points

Wallabies have a lot of new faces. Rennie is a good coach , maybe rebuilding.

In simple terms, you have to hit it a lot harder in football to beat the keeper, that in turn reduces the accuracy and increases the chance of missing.

Sort of like how, you know, how it gets harder to kick rugby balls the further you get away from the posts.

The ball is kicked 12 yards. Never any further. If the pass beats the man in rugby when you pass it with your hands then I'm certain that kicking it will work just as well with placement instead of power.

Hundreds of years of kicking a ball at goals and no one to date has managed to stumble upon your genius insight

The basic rule of kicking (soccer or rugby) is to keep your head down. Kicking a penalty is to decide before hand where to go, keeping your head down and kick it with all you got. Watching the goalie can vok it all up.

The same rule apply for place or out of hand kicking a rugby ball.

Ditto batting in cricket, ditto when hitting a golf ball.

Get a rope, tie your nose to your balls to keep your head down.

You only need to watch footballers take penalties to see that any semblance of a pre-kick routine is something given practically no thought whatsoever.

And so would keeper studying penalty takers.

It makes no difference. Put the ball in the postage stamp and they can't save it.

Maybe. France were pretty understrength, though. Wouldn't be reading too much into this if I was a Wobblies fan.

Need a couple of angles on that. Looks very close to shoulder to chin.

And for all the Aussie comms guysd are wanking o about how good a hit it was, being that upright in the tackle is exactly what World Rugby want stamped out.

Edit - he bangs him straight in the jaw, Jelonch does dip a bit, though. So maybe yellow? Fuck knows based on recent examples though. Consistency is all over the place.

That looks OK, the head moves "forward" from impact, would have definitely hurt his face from that I'm sure, but I think it's OK, just.

EDIT - Disagree, Yellow if there is contact fo rme.

Aussies best player from last week.

For me it was a yellow.

Dislike the aussie commentary though.

After all the replays, Jelonch does alter height significantly enough for that to be a yellow imo. The Aussie commentators can get fucked, though. I thought we'd see the back up such overt partisanship with Kearns gone...

If that was Etzebeth on Hooper, the commentators would have been saying something else. Contact to the head, it's red.

Fuck off. You have no idea how the game will play out. THere's plenty of games that have had red cards and remained competitive and interesting.

Quite a few players have chimed in on and off the field about players not going for an HIA after a red is given. It's stupid whataboutery. if the act warrants a red it warrants a red end of. Other than Jamie Roberts I can't think of any current player with the medical qualifications to be making a judgement as to whether a player can stay on or needs to go for the assessment.

He has also gone off for an HIA anyway. Based on the doctors, not Hooper's opinion.

Only remain competitive where a very dominant team get the red.

Australia is not that to France.

Antipodean attitudes to cards are really weird.

Just last week Argentina, bar a couple of tactical brain farts, had the beating of Wales. They drew due to decision making that's long been a hallmark of their play and missed kicks, not the red.
