Both this and the Northland/Tasman games were great. Much needed relief from the 2 sh*te T14 games I endured.

Wakato throwing short, not wanting to risk their lineout ball against Strange and BBPPP.

Waikato find a higher gear and have just scored their second try, again from a Mako mistake.

Fainga'anuku's such a frustrating player to watch. So talented, but so sloppy on defence and with his ball retention at times.

Waikato ahead 15-3 at HT. Some excellent tryline defence and smart tactics by the visitors.

Yep, odds stacked against them. I'm a neutral so gotta side with the plucky underdogs - go, Mooloo!

Really taking the time with a penalty kick.

22 point lead so Tasman need 4 scores in 18 minutes.

I thought Tasman were coming back with 2 quick tries but we have scored again when we got back to 15 aside (with a refs error helping).

39- 22 with the hooter sounding but Tasman can still get a BP. Nope, that's it. Chuffed with that result

More than the guts in defence. They were lethal on attack. Best 80 minute performance I can recall from an NPC side in years.

This afternoon's menu features Manawatu hosting Northland at 2:05pm and Southland hosting Canterbury at 4:05pm.

Gonna to be a bit strange watching the likes of Aaron Smith and Sam Whitelock running out for their provinces a few hours before the ABs play the Boks.

A Smith seems to be underplaying his hand though he did throw a superb wide pass to free the left winger for a try

Canterbury are far too careless with the ball, turning it over with pushed last passes far too often.

Golden point extra time. Prefer the full-time draw tbh.
