My 5 year old gives the most thoughtful gifts. Today's was a slight cough and a positive lateral flow test before going round to the in laws. Cue a Christmas day family trip for PCR tests and a rapid change of plans.
Quieter do, but we just about managed to salvage it.

All I’m reading is you dodged having to go to in laws. Thank that little angel of yours.Margin__Walker wrote: Sat Dec 25, 2021 7:36 pm My 5 year old gives the most thoughtful gifts. Yeah. Having spent the day with mine I wish I’d stuck my head in a bucket of Covid a few days agoYmx wrote: Sat Dec 25, 2021 8:31 pmAll I’m reading is you dodged having to go to in laws. Ha, I get on with mine. My day would have been spent sitting around getting served food and drink whilst other people entertained my son. Instead I had to do the leg work.

A quiet one this year. The youngest enjoyed it the most because at that age Christmas means gifts and lots of them. In isolation so it was just us. Eldest finally got the nod to move out of the family communal sleeping area upstairs and into the guest apartment downstairs. So his gifts were centered around that transition. Mom is moody as vok because she feels she is losing her first born. I told him to ignore it and ride it out. He reckons he needs space, especially from the youngest who adores him. Yet here they have had a sleep over every night since. Great for mom and I as we have been alone for 2 nights.
Youngest got a cricket ball launcher from Santa. Loves it. Doesn’t need anyone else if he feels like picking up a bat or adjusting it to catching practice. Before it was " dad come bowl to me , or dad come throw ". Strangely enough I have seen a huge improvement in his batting and catching. He is stepping forward to the ball and actually blocking, albeit aggressively. And the game for him is to go the full quiver of balls without missing a ball . Great for his concentration.

I'll focus my attention on German gin! Bought that delicious Monkey 47 from the Black Forest, and plan to use it to make a French 75 today, for my father's birthday.dpedin wrote: Sat Dec 25, 2021 1:00 pm Merry Christmas one and all! Away to pop open one of my pressies .... Venezuelan gin!!!

Had to go this morning for a gout booster after all the Christmas meats.. Gout is a bliksem far worse then Covid.
Nasty, I suffer occasionally. Allopurinol or Naproxen sorts it out in no time.OomStruisbaai wrote: Mon Dec 27, 2021 10:07 am Had to go this morning for a gout booster after all the Christmas meats.. Gout is a bliksem far worse then Covid.

Enjoy your last day of 2021.
Planning a normal lamb chops and rib braai to see out the last day with my old Paarl friend and family.
Happy to get past 2021 and hope the very best 2022 for all.
Special thought for those who quit the bottle and in Rona isolation.

Yeah. Last year was really a tough one. For most of us. Wishing all our posters a prosperous and worry free 2022. May all your dreams come true. And Wishing all good health. Let's get through this mild flu version together and come through with better resistance 2022.
Above all cherish your families. Spend as much time as you can with them. Nurture your children. Grow them into the good version of yourselves. With life being so unpredictable every moment counts towards building your legacy through your children. Care for and forgive your family and friends. Let's be remembered for good things.
