Good luck with that Sards, I'll try and swing by next time I'm in town.
Cape Town must be a tough market to crack for restaurants, you are really spoiled for choice.
I know (through a friend of a friend) the guys who opened up the Melkbos Kitchen, and they've been raking it in since day 1. Simple menu and good coffee.

Restaurants are struggling. Take aways are flourishing.assfly wrote: Tue Sep 01, 2020 6:45 am Good luck with that Sards, I'll try and swing by next time I'm in town.

We made the right choice.

Are you available end October...we were going to book at De Mond but might give your place a go.....only if we can run around kaalgat and there is a firepit for late evening drinking sessions....We are celebrating 3 birthdays in one....7 including kids.OomStruisbaai wrote: Tue Sep 01, 2020 8:29 am I am waiting for the fisherman and weekend get away supporters. If your food is as good as you think, people will install the app and use it saving you > 10% on each order. Mr D (and Uber Eats) will fuck you until the cows come home. Uber will actually forbid you from using any other food delivery service in their contract but they don't/can't enforce it.
Like I said you have an existing client base...we are a start up and still need to establish a client base...sorCrer wrote: Tue Sep 01, 2020 11:42 am Just to add, we have Uber/Mr D and Order In etc in all of our stores. Our app outsells Mr D in most.
the advertising you get from Mr. D is worth every cent....more people follow Mr. D than an app for El Forno...
If we succeed and make it in the big league of all the regular take outs...And expand into other malls.....maybe then
An existing walk in and on Mr D/Uber Eats client base yes. We did 400 orders on our first month November 2018. Now we sometimes do just under a 1000 per day.Sards wrote: Tue Sep 01, 2020 11:48 amLike I said you have an existing client base...we are a start up and still need to establish a client base...sorCrer wrote: Tue Sep 01, 2020 11:42 am Just to add, we have Uber/Mr D and Order In etc in all of our stores. I'm not suggesting you go out and spend a fortune developing an app. I'm merely pointing out the pitfalls of Mr D. The one advantage of Mr D etc is that they have their own delivery bikes. But guys like http://www.mobilemacs.co.za/ rent fully serviced bikes at around R100 a day.
I'm heavily involved in this game. Fast food takes no prisoners and the restaurant trade is tough. Good luck.

We are learning every day...we were going to do our own deliveries ( a bike is 6k which is nothing ) but the hassle of the staff ( another 3 at least ) turned us off . Thankfully I have another income so we can subsidise the shop for awhile......sorCrer wrote: Tue Sep 01, 2020 12:05 pmAn existing walk in and on Mr D/Uber Eats client base yes.
