Good shout on Hendo for 12. Might need to edit mine!
I really liked him as a player, especially the way he sort of tidied up after other players. In my delusions of grandeur during my playing days, I liked to imagine myself as a similar type forward around the breakdown.
I might be wrong but wasn't there a period of time we all thought of him as a bit of an average Joe but EOS kept picking him, around 2005/06, and then he had a run of about 5 games when he was incredible and then everyone had him down as one of our most important players?
He wasn't a flashy player so an easy target, the POM of his time.

Drew some ire from certain sections when Neil Best was overlooked in 07 after a very good Nov the previous year.

That's it.

Neil Best was in great form and Fez was just on the scene, both of which were X factor players and Easterbury was a nuts and bolts type.
Ian Madigan for Ireland.

Yeah, there were good options as we got into the mid noughties but early on in his career, he was really good.
Anyway the purpose of the thread is favourite players, not necessarily the best players.

Maggs was also a cracking player worthy of a mention for 12. That try against France in 03 was beautiful (even if the French were mentally already in the pub by that stage of the game).
Favourite maggs game was the baa baas game where he made absolute shite out of Pieter Muller.

It’s obvious you’re not Scottish. No Scottish fan could pick a team like this and not put Dan Parks at 10!

Chunk was a good player. Swinson was OK, and I thought Webster could have been a perfectly decent winger in a better team. Sebastian has barely played for us. Fair enough otherwise.

Edit: put Blade Thomson in there for Cowan. Cowan wasn’t that bad. Thomson was meant to be good and he was shite.
It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom - for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.

Nah Godawful was consistent and Parks could give the team too much of a chance with endless punts that keep the ball out of play and chaos levels down (even if peaks a bit higher)

As prior, chunk was alright but team selected on basis of keeping ball on pitch and seeing him heave about without reprieve. Disagree Swinson, think he was a large part of being unable to compete physically, agree re Thomson. To be honest struggled with wingers, plenty of one/two cap wonders. If I could have 2007 QF Lamont (presume Rory) and his daft one handed catch attempts on the touchline I will put in there. (Beyond Parks dumb chip at end of game still think that Lamont was the QF loser)

Yep, it's part of an acrylic series I'm working on called "Attack of the Flying Palette Knives". Here's another one...

I know, but its been 8 years and Cullen and Rokocoko make a huge difference, as does the bench. Swap ali williams with Brad thorn... even better
