Guess what, these rioters are fucking awful !
I've seen far darker, grislier shit than what's currently going on, I've an unfortunately strong stomach. What's ghoulish is that both across this and the Nottingham thread you seem to be excitedly searching for bad things being perpetrated by minority groups so that you can justify prejudicial viewpoints.
Here we are then, the guts of the matter.

It’s not excitedly. It’s just pure shock at pretty horrific events.

On what you are alluding to …
I find it, quite frankly, hilarious, that you can’t be honest enough to yourself, that you completely go out of your way to avoid considering, seeing any disturbing trends or statistics. When there’s a whiff of something which doesn’t fulfilll your virtue signalling views, you quickly brush it under the carpet, and shout down anything publishing which disagrees with your constitution.

You just close your eyes, block your ears, and shout bigot to a windfall of virtue signalling back patting.

I think we can all agree that France is a lawless country, full of reprobate youths and women with hairy armpits, and that the RWC should be moved to UK/Ireland as a result.

Yawn. Go check yourown Nottingham thread. I'm perfectly fine observing things like black youths being overrepresented in knife crime in the UK. I'm just not desperate to elevate the crimes of non-white people.

If you do bother yourself, you will notice it was JM who actually bought up race. Calling Stop and Searches racist.

There was more concern about it being a terrorist event prior to that.

You’re just simply not at all balanced on this like you pretend. You are clearly very quick to point the bigot finger. It clearly riled you …

Are we still allowed to post anything on the riot thread, which might implicate rioters?

Obviously you’re quite thick skinned to it all, so hope is ok.

That's because the Gendarmerie is exactly that and basically comes under the armed forces jurisdiction whereas the Police (used to be the Surete of Clouseau fame) is civilian. The Gendarmes are hard core, racist f**ks whom everyone hates and make the Met look like a model of policing.
Then you have their CRS substrates who are even worse.

My sister lives in Paris, and says the general reaction has been that it's the coppers overstepping the mark massively. Again. Apparently Mathieu Kassovitz has come out and said its still just as bad as when they made La Haine.

’It’s not riots - it’s war’, says police chief in French town where mayor’s home was attacked

A burning car was driven into the front of the suburban home of Vincent Jeanbrun, the mayor of L'Hay-les-Roses in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Why you can trust Sky News

The police chief in a French town reeling from an attack on its mayor's home has told Sky News his officers are involved in "a war" against rioters "who are there to kill us".

Eric Vergne has led the response to an attack that has shocked the French nation.

A burning car was driven into the front of the suburban home of Vincent Jeanbrun, the mayor of L'Hay-les-Roses in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Mr Jeanbrun was not at home at the time, but his wife was forced to flee the home along with their two young children.

She suffered a fractured leg as she escaped.

Mr Vergne attended an event to show solidarity with the town's mayor.

'They're using Nahel as a pretext'
He said: "People talk about riots, but for those of us who have to deal with all this, it's not riots - it's war.

"The people who are standing in front of us are there to kill us.

"They have Molotov cocktails, they have cobbles, they come to within three metres in front of us.

"They have enormous paving stones that they throw at us to try to kill us. They don't want to play with us. They are there to kill us."

After the attack on the Jeanbrun family home, the prosecutor opened a formal investigation into attempted murder. Mrs Jeanbrun has undergone surgery and, according to her husband, is unlikely to walk for several months.

Within hours of the attack, the town was visited by both the Prime Minister, Elisabeth Borne, and the Interior Minister, Gerald Darmanin.

Mr Vergne said that his officers were intent on upholding the law and restoring order to the area. L'Hay-les-Roses is normally a quiet town. One resident, who has lived here for 45 years, told us that she had never known such a crime to occur.

Can you image facing a riot as a policeman?
Pre democracy, during my national service I patrolled Alexandra township during a very volatile period. We were sometimes walking next to the Buffels and sometimes in the Buffels. Everyone hated you. The looks. The tension. Eyes darting everywhere at once because you couldn't be sure when someone is going to throw a molotov cocktail.
I hated it. Did anything to get out of it. Like most of the boys.

I wasn't a coward. I did many tours into Angola on operations
and was with most of the units at some point or another. Was an Ops Medic. So we went where the action was .

It's just so depressing. Being so hated

Tbh there was a time that I would have massively brought into the narrative of the systemic racism angle of the police force.

But when these riots kick off (as in the Mark Duggan killing in 2011 and George Floyd in 2020) there seems to be a lot of band wagon jumping. It just seems that calling institutions in the west "systemically racist" is just about the laziest thing you can do.

In the 2 cases you have cited, certainly one of the law inforcement organisations is a known cess pit of homophobia, racism and corruption and violence and intimidation.

He probably never should have had the gun pointing at the guy, the act of doing so seems reckless. Unless he thought the driver was armed. I'd guess 99.9% of time a driver respects the fact a gun is trained on them, unfortunately in this case is was a wild 17 year.
The initial story from the police was that he fired when the car was driven at him but as soon as it became clear that there was a video, that story became "fluid".

It's highly unlikely the police lad is as painted elsewhere and by some on here. That being a state sponsored killer stalking the banlieues. From that video I bet he is sitting with his head in hands wondering how and why he pulled the trigger. The tension between both parties is massive in those communities. Imagine how many lads in Darndale would get shot if our cops carried guns as part of their regular patrols
It's not the fück up that kills, it's the bad attempts to cover up. Everyone accepts that Menezes was a tragic fück up by authorities in London but what blew it up was the ham fisted attempts to deflect blame by fabricating a cover story.

The initial story was that the police fired because he tried to run them down and if it wasn't for the video, they'd probably still be at it. This lying only makes things worse.

Great point overall about how people in a fight or flight mentality with tons of adrenaline in their system are not the most accurate of witnesses.

My problem is that people just parrot this shit because it is fashionable to say.

There was a French politician being interviewed the other day on Channel 4 and every question the interviewer asked was more or less "something, something, something, systemic racism". It was such a pointless interview and it was clear that the journalist thought the term "systemic racism" just trumped anything that the Frenchman had to say. There was no attempt to flesh out the term and give it any real meaning.

I was the only sober person there as had just finished work. Was just bad luck
I can relate. My uncle Will (who is just about the most placid, inoffensive person I have ever met) got stabbed In Windsor years ago after a Christmas party.

What triggered the whole thing, just an idiot our of his mind on drugs?

Correction was that it was not a launched explosive, it was a stationary placed one. On post office.
We see an individual placing an explosive against the ATM of the Mermoz post office in the 8th arrondissement. The machine did significant damage, clearly visible this Saturday morning.

My personal case was less of a story.

Outside a Brixton club called the dogstar in the early noughties. 2/3am. I decided to call my lady friend, booty call. Some urban guy took the opportunity to grab the phone from me and run off. I was playing rugby back then and fairly nippy, so I chased after him. Caught up with him around the corner where I just held him by his jacket demanding my phone. He swung around and seemed like he was just swatting to get away from me. Little did I realise he had swung a sharpened screwdriver at my hands and then at the side of my head. I think I must have let him go at that point.

I then walked back around the corner with my hand to my head, with blood flowing. I remember some of the startled people as they saw me. But not my f’ing friends, they barely noticed I’d vanished. Ambulance later and sat in a bed for hours and finally they glued me up.

Moral of the story. There’s a lot of cvnts on this planet.

My near temple wound was on my right side, so he must have been a cunting lefty too.
