The Bulls U21 team looks pretty good. Will be interesting how many of these guys can break into the senior team over the next year or two.

It is almost the final in the first week.
The Bulls vs Sharks match was the best match we have seen since lockdown was unlocked....Chilli wrote: Sun Oct 04, 2020 4:34 pmThe two outright favorite.OomStruisbaai wrote: Sun Oct 04, 2020 12:12 pm Game of round 1 next week is Sharks vs Lions in the Shark Tank.

However.....I felt the Sharks were way off the pace and not very coordinated. They need to sort out their shit very soon...can't have the Super Rugby log leaders playing kak rugby.
Bit of a leap saying just because its the Sharks based on early season...Us fans are not impressed and I don't feel comfortable.
Hopefully all the players have had a chance to adjust to full-contact rugby and playing in an empty stadium, so that the Currie Cup is better quality.
Some of the English teams actually got psychologists in to study the effect of playing in empty stadiums; especially the effect it has on defence in the 22 where the local crowd tend to get behind their team.
If the Premiership is anything to go by, we will be seeing high-scoring games with lots of penalties. And lots of swearing on the ref's mic.

As long as the quality improves....I am not likely to waste any more of my time watching the shite that was the Green vs Gold.....that was a complete embarrassment.assfly wrote: Mon Oct 05, 2020 6:02 am Hopefully all the players have had a chance to adjust to full-contact rugby and playing in an empty stadium, so that the Currie Cup is better quality.

I know its early days but wtf..................
It reminds me of a case of wine we bought during the prohibition...
man we thought that wine was amazing...unmarked bottles????
Until we could freely buy wine and we found one of those bottles we bought during the prohibition and man oh man was it kak....
Ja it wasn't great, but I guess we have to give them the benefit of the doubt as it was a practice game. But the kicking for posts pissed me off.Sards wrote: Mon Oct 05, 2020 6:06 am As long as the quality improves....I am not likely to waste any more of my time watching the shite that was the Green vs Gold.....that was a complete embarrassment.

Look, the kicking is part of the Boks gameplan. With Rassie and Nienaber there it wont change.
So we need to consider the execution of it and make informed decisions around that...I thought Nohamba was the best by far on the day....remember this lighty is a retreaded flyhalf. And his goal kcking is definitely not the worst out there ( we saw the worst on Saturday )...so he adds that dimension.
I just want to see rugby like we saw the Sharks play in the Soup comp....that was high intensity and accurate and edge of your seat stuff....

No way the Cheetahs will lose to the Sharks or Bulls to the Lions.
They are the in form teams.
Griquas at the Groot Gat will probably knock over the weak WP team.
Yeah, and it is resulting in a faster gameassfly wrote: Mon Nov 02, 2020 5:10 am ?Anybody else notice how the breakdown has changed since we started playing again? Seems to be a lot more turnovers. Possibly because the refs are rewarding fetchers and/or punishing players who are dominated in a tackle.

Out for the season
Let's hope they did not push his recovery period and played him with a niggle.Sards wrote: Mon Nov 02, 2020 5:44 am More importantly. Whats happening with Fassi....
Just seen , in September he was ruled out for 4 months with the shoulder injury.
That's him gone for the season.

I must admit that I am very nervous of a huge Sharks backlash this weekend. The 2020 Super Rugby Champions * will be hurting and will want to redress the past and show just how good a team they are.
The Sharks are going to throw everything that they have a the Cheetahs and I am not sure that the semi professional Rugby team from Bloemfontein will be able to stem the black tide.
Sure, the Cheetahs narrowly beat the Bulls, but any coach with half a brain can beat them. Just move that monster huge pack around until they tire . And keep your discipline up, so that the old age pensioner at 10 can't kick the penalties.
What really counts in the 2020 Super Rugby Champions * favour is that they are used to playing in their home stadium without crowds of supporters.
To put this into perspective: this is the 2020 Super Rugby Champions * playing against the Pro14 also rans. The greatest Franchise Competition in the world against a northern hemisphere competition that is dominated by teams from Italy, Scotland, Wales and the Kings.
I'll fight anyone who disagrees with me when I say 2020 Super Rugby Champions * by 20 or more .

But you really cannot make a judgement from 1 good match.
Yet you expect the Springbokke to play against the All Blacks without any matches.
The Cheetahs will be rusted after three weeks. Sharks should beat them with ease.
Last week after the hammering by the Bulls the Sharks were hard at it training there guts out....the whole week.TheNatalShark wrote: Tue Nov 03, 2020 5:36 amThis is a sensible reading of the state of play.Chilli wrote: Tue Nov 03, 2020 5:18 am I must admit that I am very nervous of a huge Sharks backlash this weekend. I am a Cheetahs supporter. When they were unfairly excluded from Super Rugby, I needed a team to support. I chose the Bulls because of the quality of their supporters.assfly wrote: Tue Nov 03, 2020 5:45 am FFS Chilli are you a Bulls fan or a Cheetahs fan? Can't have it both ways.
