Yep, and when they realise nobody here pays their second-rate drivel much attention and shuffle out the door, they sneer dismissively at this "echo chamber".
Just had a quick lurk on PR and fishfoodie's quite right - it's mostly just the usual suspects stinking up thread after thread...same as it ever was I guess. Meh.

It takes a shithead to spot shithead. When you have enough opposing shitheads in one place you have PR.

PR is a sesspit these days. It’s Bimbo , Mick and Dozy flooding every thread with contrarian arguments. There’s very little of the humour and general banter from the years when I first joined.

Yeah I saw that. Mick started a thread as someone said he should kill himself no doubt on some other shit talking thread. Quickly responded to by some lefties saying have you yet?
How low has it descended there on all sides?
I’d really like to see those who post rugby threads jump over here. We are a big light on kiwis.

Last time I checked it was basically just a big anti-vax/racism crossover event with the occasional rugby thread.

Once again ASMO, many thanks for setting this place up !
I wandered over to the other place; & I think Jake's master plan is to let the place so toxic, & vile; that closing it will be a mercy killing.
Mick has gone full on anti-vax; Dozy is back; & is thread shitting like a plague monkey with diarrhea; & no thread, or topic is immune to his expertise
Nuking it from orbit will end up safer for PR; than waiting till the lawyers get involved.
When that happens; please lock registrations; while the cabbages fuck off to new pastures
Sounds like a plan

Tis a pleasure, we are small but perfectly formed, i have gathered the infinity stones which has allowed me to turn the likes of Dozy and Bimbo to dust, any others of their ilk will get the same treatment.

There are several here already, who post well. It's the effect of the Swarm to be feared, when they just take over threads; also the drop into Irish / Brit cripplefights the moment any of them touch a raw nerve of the other. Though that can also be said of their Brit-swarm counterparts, who largely have stated away from here too.

People have lost the ability to debate a point. These days, if someone disagrees with you, he's automatically wrong plus you need to insult him.

To an extent. Can't remember who said it, but there's a quote or paraphrase of one that I see around fairly frequently: You can't reason someone out of a position they haven't reasoned their way into.
Some people simply don't have defensible positions and some things simply aren't debateable. In the face of that being frustrated and slinging insults is understandable, if a waste of time.

Yep, people on the internet with entrenched worldviews very rarely change course.
There's often very little real debate involved. Getting into extended multi thread conflicts with the usual suspects is a complete waste of time. I'll occasionally engage once or twice if I'm bored before drifting away. If you get to a point where you are slinging insults at posters following arguments about current affairs on a rugby message board, it's probably time to take a break.

That describes my feelings too.
It has come to a point where I hardly post due to too many threads about current affairs becoming a mud slinging contest, and I can't post about the few rugby matches being played due to not being able to watch them.
It's gotten so bad that I decided to change my login because too many posters thinking they know how I feel about certain stuff just because I happen to differ with them on some issues.

Apparently Jonathan Swift. I'd not heard it before TBH but it's one of those brilliant quotes that will always be relevant.

In a similar vein, "That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence." - Chris Hitchens

Swift has some great quotes.
I like Christopher Hitchens, but I'm not sure I agree with that particular one, which was presumably said whilst addressing religion or the idea of God.

Yep - those 3. and a few of their right wing compatriots, have made PR almost unreadable. There's almost no banter now, just vitriol and threads dominated by utter idiots. I barely bother with it any more. Even putting them on ignore doesn't work because they are so pervasive and get quoted in the conversations.

So, I'm pretty sure you'll have a reworking version of this in 2 weeks and then a second wave to follow.
We've mended the football forum- massive job- and it's starting to regenerate. it'll take time. We may move it to XenForo but not sure yet.
So, you can guarantee this will be fit for purpose and there'll be two stages.
If you go, fine. If you stay, great.
xenForo huh, that was big a few years back but has since been replaced by newer concepts in forum structure. All those forum software packages where you can view threads either in las post date/time sequence or select a category or other.

Aye, but if that is the case then the pious prove their love for a god or a religion through their actions, and if that can be dismissed without evidence then surely my love for someone can be too?

In one case the other party can confirm those actions to be genuine, in the other case they can’t.

This is getting very philosophical.
The actions will surely be genuine in both cases?
Aye, it's breaching the realms of philosophical conversation, but for my money that beats the exchange of insults that often inhibits discussion online.

Agree with all your points. I don't know if there's a 'right' answer to your question about love, but personally it wouldn't make any difference if someone dismissed the validity of my love for another...as long as it wasn't the 'other' doing the dismissing, of course.
Anyway, I'm still keen to know what happened to Jethro's record collection...
