Good to go, starting with 3 T20's, 27/11 at Newlands, 29/11 at Paarl and 01/12 at Newlands. We may be low on quality players, but under Boucher we will scrap to the death.

Bring it on!

I'll doubtless be accused of reading too much into it, but it seems that England are regarding these matches as practice.
"Winning at the moment would be great. But for us, given the luxury in players that we have at our disposal, it's more important that we get their roles right and they feel comfortable within that, because if we manage to solve that problem, the results will look after themselves."
Eoin Morgan on England's priorities for the series
That de Kock was talking about trying to give England a "run for their money" speaks volumes on how the respective skippers expect the series to go.

Pretty standard "performances matter, results will look after themselves" thing.

Shit, I'll be happy if we manage to not do what all successful English sports teams do and completely fall apart after a period of success.

Both teams have more than an eye on the World T20, no surprise there. Winning in SA would strike me as excellent prep.

Pfft! With our continued batting lineup issues, we'll crash out just like we did last year in 50 overs WC in England.

Just put us in to bat, then chase down the meagre 110 to win.

I don't think "Mitchell Starc very publicly prolapsing in front of a live audience" comes under the definition of real cricket but however you get your kicks, I guess

Oh its so sad . Both of our Countries are so similar. Of course we don't have the Boer influence. Very similar. You people are more stubborn than us. Of course geography has its say. Good luck.

Yes, but that's not the point I was making.

While Morgan is talking more of preparations for the World T20, de Kock is expressing doubts about their ability to compete with England; he's talking about being able to play well enough to compete with England ("give them a run for their money"), whereas Morgan is less concerned with the results which he believes will come.

I feel that there is a huge disparity in the attitudes of each team.

Frankly, if all you are hoping for is to give the other team a run for their money, the takeaway from that is that you expect to lose and the most you can hope for is not to lose by much.

Maybe de Kock is just playing the underdog card here (I hope so).

Jofra squares up de Kock first ball and the edge flies through vacant second slip.

My current working theory is that Jofra bowls at his best when he's wearing all his jewellry - good to see the gold chains today

The terrifyingly good de Kock absolutely batters a length ball from Archer over square leg. SA looking very, very confident.

24 from that over. Saffers oozing that easy arrogance of world class batsmen. Very impressive so far on a fairly slow wicket.

Woops. The much maligned (by me) Chris Jordan causes de Kock to plonk one straight in the hands of midwicket.

Newlands the usual slow pitch.

Faf need to stay if we want to be competitive
