Cricket: SA vs England
Just read this for a second time and enjoyed it just as much.JM2K6 wrote: Mon Nov 16, 2020 4:01 pm Love a series with South Africa. Always good to see imaginative tactics, relentless hostility, and incredible acts of mental agility.
And that's just Rinkals' posts.

So, are we good to go with this?
Good to go, starting with 3 T20's, 27/11 at Newlands, 29/11 at Paarl and 01/12 at Newlands. We may be low on quality players, but under Boucher we will scrap to the death.Un Pilier wrote: Wed Nov 25, 2020 6:05 pmJust read this for a second time and enjoyed it just as much.JM2K6 wrote: Mon Nov 16, 2020 4:01 pm Love a series with South Africa. Should be a cracker. Shame there's not some tests in this over Christmas
Old men forget: yet all shall be forgot, But he'll remember with advantages, What feats he did that day
I'll doubtless be accused of reading too much into it, but it seems that England are regarding these matches as practice.
That de Kock was talking about trying to give England a "run for their money" speaks volumes on how the respective skippers expect the series to go."Winning at the moment would be great. But for us, given the luxury in players that we have at our disposal, it's more important that we get their roles right and they feel comfortable within that, because if we manage to solve that problem, the results will look after themselves."

Both teams have more than an eye on the World T20, no surprise there. Winning in SA would strike me as excellent prep.

Pfft! With our continued batting lineup issues, we'll crash out just like we did last year in 50 overs WC in England.Paddington Bear wrote: Fri Nov 27, 2020 10:23 am Both teams have more than an eye on the World T20, no surprise there.
Just put us in to bat, then chase down the meagre 110 to win.

I don't think "Mitchell Starc very publicly prolapsing in front of a live audience" comes under the definition of real cricket but however you get your kicks, I guessGreen light echo wrote: Fri Nov 27, 2020 7:52 amSo you finally have some international sport hey. Oh its so sad . Both of our Countries are so similar. Of course we don't have the Boer influence. Very similar. You people are more stubborn than us. Of course geography has its say. Good luck.OomStruisbaai wrote: Fri Nov 27, 2020 11:22 am Difficult pick between India & Australia for the biggest sand paper cheaters.

While Morgan is talking more of preparations for the World T20, de Kock is expressing doubts about their ability to compete with England; he's talking about being able to play well enough to compete with England ("give them a run for their money"), whereas Morgan is less concerned with the results which he believes will come.
I feel that there is a huge disparity in the attitudes of each team.
Frankly, if all you are hoping for is to give the other team a run for their money, the takeaway from that is that you expect to lose and the most you can hope for is not to lose by much.
Maybe de Kock is just playing the underdog card here (I hope so).

The pace that ball is coming off the bat is terrifying.JM2K6 wrote: Fri Nov 27, 2020 4:28 pm 24 from that over. Saffers oozing that easy arrogance of world class batsmen. Very impressive so far on a fairly slow wicket.

Newlands the usual slow pitch.
Faf need to stay if we want to be competitive
