Private ownership, the supremacy of the market and individualism were at the very heart of Thatcherism from the start, she and her followers were Hayekian from the off.

Not really no, Healey had previously used the BofE to buy BP's shares in Burmah Oil Company in order to bail that company out.
This raised the country's ownership of BP shares from 48% to 68%, when these Burmah Oil Company shares were sold if left the state with 51% ownership of BP, a controlling interest.

The action increased the state interest in BP.

The semantics of the BP sale . LOL

Its transfer to full public ownership happened in 4 tranches.
One via Healey, the rest under the Chancellorships of Howe and Lawson. Final sale was in 87.
I think GoldmanSachs had a hand in all the sales .

My grandfather bought some of those BP shares Healey sold.
Family sold them this summer.

Britoil was my first ever share purchase, eventually made money out of it in the end

Some of that list of privatisations , were of companies that had been fairly recently nationalised

Britoil was a Tony Benn project
Cable and Wireless was Nationalised in 1947
Jaguar was Nationalised in mid 70's I think.
BAE was formed in mid 70's via Nationalisation

A number of small water boards were already in private ownershipp

I can live happily with the Right to Buy, though not maintaining social housing was stupid, and now sees the state paying stupid money for private housing so it's not even working in the round. And the right to buy is probably still the biggest, by value, ongoing fraud and nobody seems to care about it, perhaps they've addressed some problems but I've not heard anything about that, though as nobody seems to care we typically hear nothing about anything on this subject.

More than any educational policy or health policy is an interesting take, but taking perhaps the point then yes, but whilst it's a fair comment for those who've benefited it can also be used for those who've been screwed by the policy.

Really? Why then doesn't Kent have grammar schools still and et little social mobility? They after all have far fewer kids on free school meals than the rest of the country. Also countries with no Grammar schools have much higher social mobility as well.

Perhaps it points to a lack of social mobility being due to other factors.

Same as when Cameron forced him out he popped up no time later in another role for Gove, who is just an awful human being on every level.
