He is trying to get north to get to calmer sea so that he can try to repair.

So Alex Thomson is officially reired from the race and safely in capetown, Sébastien Simon limping there too with no chance of repairing (to rejoin the race).


Samantha Davies likely to retire unless she can fix the keel well that got damaged by the UFO. (F is for Floating).

Things got scary apparently with very a big storm

Fabrice Amedeo has computer issues Newrest art& Fenêtres and is heading norht to try and repair (he has no meteo and only GPS)

Charlie Dalin has hit a UFO and damaged the port side Foil (I think it's port side).

He is still leading the race but likely to be overtaken tonight.

The foils are not improving this stats however the keel is the most exposed item.

There are companies working on sonars / radars to try and detect containers others trying to get sound devices to scare large sea mammals away.

Phew that is good news, it must be terrifying being stuck in monster seas alone and miles from anyone.

Actually Jean Le Cam Said it's worse if you are searching than if you're being rescued (he was rescued once or twice before)
Escoffier was quite relaxed about it in the video when he was recovered.

Le Cam said the stress is not knowing how the other is as there is no way to communicate (just a beacon).

Sébastien Destremau still struggling with his pilot and rudder likely to go north seeking a port to repair.

Louis Burton as completed his repairs under the wind at Maquarie Island (he was forbidden to moor) but allowed to only drift 500 m from shore.

Roaring 40s in a solo boat is safest place around at the moment. Wouldn’t be surprised if the sailors decided to go around the world twice.

I don't think the boats would last a second go around. they get completely over-holed after this. A lot of the sails are ragged and have been repaired (if not destroyed already)...

Also Isabelle Joshke has Keel damage and can't tilt it any more, she will lose speed as a result
