We were unable to score boundaries on the leg side the way Pakistan are doing, just nudging the ball to mid-wicket for ones and twos

Oh well.....did well to get through to the semi's. Just seemed to tail off at the wrong time.
Still not sure about Allen as an opener. Undoubtedly he can hit the ball a mile - but he is far to streaky and unable to change his approach depending on conditions.
I hope India win the other semi as a Pakistan v India final would be pretty epic.

Nah - Pakistan have this kind of performance in their locker. Problem is that they will likely roll out the other kind of performance in the final.

111/1 after 13.3 shirley that should trigger the collapse.

NZ went at 5.9 in the first 10, Pakistan at 8.7. That's a huge difference.
Williamson's SR of 110 looks a little light for someone facing 42 balls out of 120.

A grand tournament by the Black Caps comes undone in a decent thrashing by Pakistan.

Bad luck NZ! At least this result will annoy the hell out of the Indian fans. We might even get an apocalyptic India-Pakistan final.

Allen only needs to come off now and then, I think it's fine to have an opener like him. He'll improve too, he's not that experienced. Just needs more faith. He's a genuinely exciting talent and NZ should absolutely build around him and Phillips.
I didn't watch the match so this might be miles off but it's never a good sign when you get a low score with loads of wickets in hand. Williamson and Conway scoring 67 off just over 10 overs between them is an absolute killer. This can sometimes be the problem with great Test bats; they value their wickets too highly in T20.
Then again I thought Stokes played England into trouble with his performance in the Sri Lanka game and pretty much everyone else thinks he was the hero, so what do I know eh

Eng won the toss and chose to field,
The team winning the toss in Adelaide has gone on to lose 7 of the last 7 times... (Incl SA v Ned)

As Jordan lined up to bowl the first ball of the 18th over, I thought "I fear for him here". First two have gone for six. Sigh.

Virat gets his 50 then clips a floaty half volley to gulley/backward point (apparently a very short 3rd man). wtf. Jordan can't believe his luck.
Pant in now...

Even if they only get a run a ball from here they'll beat 150.
Oh, and that one goes for four. So 146 with 8 balls to go. Great shout Oom.

They're doing well to get after Curran this over. His death bowling has been great so far.

Stokes with a fuckup on the boundary gifts Hardik another 4, and his 50 in rapid time. Huge 20-run over for India, pulls them right back into it. 156/4 with 1 to go.

I really don't like Chris Jordan playing for England. I know he's a great guy and a gun fielder and a super experienced death bowler, but all I ever see from him is him getting flogged. Gets smashed for six then bowls a full toss that's nearly a no-ball that gets twatted for another boundary.
Amusingly Pandaya steps on his own stumps for the final delivery. Monstrous innings though. That's the joy of T20, you can strangle a side as much as you want but it just takes one big hitter to have a good half-hour and they post a very competitive total.
