Argentine must be favourites now with that bloody goalie.

If France had bothered trying for the whole game instead of just patches they would have stuffed them

It's a shame that penalties are so exciting when they are such a bloody awful way of deciding the match. Another 10 minutes of extra time, removing a player from each side every minute. That would be more fun.

Extraordinary game.

Finals decided by penalties not great but this game will be the exception

I've managed to avoid this whole tournament so far... completely. Not my cup of tea.

I have though, found a live stream through a news outket just in time for the penalty shoot out.

Vamos, Malvinas.

I see you distorted the point. Only 2 European sides has ever won off own continent: as per above, Spain in SA and the Krauts in Braz. South American sides have done it 5 times.

There is no return to an old order because SAm sides dominated until 2000 by the only metric that matters: winners.
You can change that stat now.................

Bizarre that Mbappe gets a hat trick in a game that he otherwise contributed fuck all to. Lazy prick who never tracks back or tackles.

No. Our argument was over how SAm sides have won off their own continent way more times than Europeans.

By all accounts a great tournament but hopefully the last to be played outside the summer window. Never could really get my head around a Nov/Dec World Cup.

Had a good friend who loved Ronaldo. When pressed he'd always just go back to "but but but...he only uses his left foot!" He got years worth of mileage out of that.

RWC 19. I do understand it better now. Some of their supporters are the same. Its either the ref or their own players having a bad game but never the opposition.

If the colonials can’t drag it back to a bit of mother country bashing them you’ll take all the fun out of sport.

Thanks for taking some time away from sending rape threats to Polly Barnes to share your thoughts here on this thread (involving different nations in a different sport).

Oom has specialised knowledge on the dynamics of referee blaming by a fan base. He's here to help us all understand more about that.

When did this become a policed thing? I feel like this is a daily mail or uk tabloid press nonsense. Unfortunately, they now have global reach so many other naive souls will be exposed to them.

Deschamps is the type of guy who would probably chuck his runners up medal in the bin.
