Thanks for that! That’s brilliant!
Hope to see many more of those.
Ukraine thwarted a Russian missile attack on a cargo ship in the Black Sea last month, the UK government revealed on Monday, citing new intelligence.
The attempted strike, though ultimately foiled, marked perhaps the most serious attack on a civilian vessel since Russia withdrew from the crucial Black Sea grain deal several weeks earlier and began ramping up threats against ships transiting the region, recklessly warning that they would be considered potential carriers of military cargo.
Britain's foreign office said in a statement that on August 24, a missile carrier belonging to Russia's Black Sea Fleet fired two Kalibr cruise missiles at a Liberian-flagged cargo ship that was moored at a port in the southern Ukrainian city of Odesa, but they were "successfully shot down" by Kyiv's air-defense systems.
"Thanks to declassified intelligence we know the Russian military targeted a civilian cargo ship in the Black Sea with multiple missiles," UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said in remarks to lawmakers on Monday, although he did not elaborate on the specifics of the intelligence.
It's unclear what time, exactly, the attack took place, although Ukraine's air force said on August 25 that it destroyed missiles targeting the Odesa region during the previous night.
"While the UK and our partners continue to do all we can to ensure Ukraine's exports reach those who need it most, this pattern of deliberately targeted attacks in the Black Sea by Russia demonstrates President Putin's willingness to weaponise food and innocent trade at the expense of the rest of the world as they block food from reaching world markets," it added.
To deter against Russian attacks on civilian ships, the British government said last week that Royal Air Force aircraft are conducting surveillance flights above the Black Sea so they can monitor any potential preparations by Moscow to launch an assault on shipping or infrastructure.

Russian Airbus A320 belonging to the "Ural Airlines" company and travelling from Sochi to Omsk was forced to land on a field due to a "complete failure of hydraulic systems"170 people on board all survived. Slowly but surely, sanctions are catching up with the Russian flight industry.
The Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe on Legal Affairs and Human Rights recognized that Russia has become a dictatorship.
"The enormous power of the president, resulting from an extremely long tenure in office, coupled with the absence of any checks and balances, such as a strong parliament, an independent judiciary, a free media and a vibrant civil society, has turned the Russian Federation into a de facto dictatorship."
Not sure, the North Koreans leaders get progressively more batshit each time they get a new one...tabascoboy wrote: Tue Sep 12, 2023 9:24 am So much good could be achieved with just one massive missile...

The European Parliament has recognised Lukashenko as involved in the war against Ukraine on a par with Putin and called on the International Criminal Court to issue a warrant for his arrest.
The corresponding resolution was adopted at a plenary session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg on 13 September.
Provocative ole move but what are the Russians going to do, invade?

deep shit for the Black Sea fleet if so.
This is Ilia Novikov. He was a famous Russian defense lawyer and participated in a Russian intellectual TV show.
He remained honest with himself and with the world. He made it clear that Russia illegally annexed Crimea. Then he defended political prisoners in Russia and, in 2021, moved to Kyiv.
When Russia invaded in 2022, he joined the territorial defense and became one of those who protected Kyiv. Everyone has a choice.
Russia portrays patriotism as a willingness to kill for their country because the government says so. It’s not true. The government should represent people’s interests. People don’t have to die for their government’s interests.
Knowing what brainwashed individuals would say, I’ll add that Ukrainians defend their country. They did it even when we had no president at all. It’s in our interests.

I have a funny feeling that someone pointed out to the narcissistic cunt, that there are windows, & sharp iron railings in the US too; & that it'd be terrible if his ketamine got contaminated with fentanyl, resulting in his tragic death.......

February 24, 2022. It had been maybe 10 hours since Vladimir Putin announced the “special military operation” against Ukraine, but the fighting was already taking place dangerously close to Kyiv. Russian forces were trying to take control of the Hostomel airport on the north-western outskirts of Ukraine’s capital. Columns of tanks and other heavy equipment were heading towards Kyiv from Belarus. It was only a 130 kilometers journey.
Then, roughly 800 km away in Pskov, 18 IL-76 transport planes started their engines and headed towards the takeoff track. The planes were full of perhaps Russia’s most elite airborne troops from the 76th Guards Air Assault Division. The approximately 1,000 troops loaded onto the planes were highly trained, and many of them already experienced from the Chechen wars. Their objective was to fly to Kyiv and quickly finish the “special military operation.”
The ILs were already halfway towards the Hostomel airport when Christo Grozev was the first to publicly draw attention to it: “The only plausible goal would be to capture and subordinate Kyiv (and install a puppet government) today. While the world is watching and doing almost nothing.”
But luckily this time Grozev got it a little bit wrong. Two different sources confirmed to Delfi Estonia that Estonia’s military intelligence, officially known in English as the Military Intelligence Centre of Estonian Defense Forces, had sent an advance warning to their Ukrainian colleagues before the troops had even stepped on the planes.
“I cannot confirm or deny this,” says Estonian military intelligence chief colonel Margo Grosberg when asked about it. His pause before the answer seems just a tad too long. But he acknowledges that the Hostomel battle that day might well have been the most crucial battle in the whole course of the Ukrainian war so far.
“If the ILs would have been able to land at Hostomel, we might be today in a totally different situation than what he have,” he says.
Ukraine poured everything it had around Kyiv to keep the planes from landing. The Ukrainians showered the airfield with artillery fire to make the landing strip unusable. Apparently one of Russia’s KA-52 attack helicopters was shot down and crashed on the runway making it virtually impossible for the ILs to land. After circling in the Ukrainian sky for some time, they needed to return to the base.

One of the Estonian military intelligence’s largest successes was picking up early that Russia was going to annex Crimea in 2014.
“We saw it ahead long enough to make the alarm bells ring both in Estonia and NATO,” Grosberg says. They rang the alarm. But practically no one listened. “When we take a look at what was the international reaction to the [annexation] of Crimea, it is clear that we weren’t listened to. Crimea led to Donbass. The result of Donbass is today’s Ukraine.”
According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary, Péter Szijjártó, the whole world is suffering from the consequences of the war not because Russia attacked Ukraine, but because Europe globalized the conflict.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine believes that the EU should demand an explanation from Hungary why it spreads disinformation against the European Union in the interests of Russia.

Ukrainian media, citing their sources, report that yesterday an experimental "Sea Baby" (marine drone) of the Security Service of Ukraine damaged the
Russian missile ship "Samum".
As reported, not far from the entrance to the Sevastopol Bay "Sea Baby" hit the rear right part of the Russian ship, causing significant damage, the ship lost its course.
The Russians had to tow "Samum" for repairs with a large fairing on the stern and a crane on the starboard side.
For this attack, the Security Service of Ukraine used an experimental model of a marine drone, which is capable of operating in a storm, hiding from detection behind high waves. During the special operation, the height of the waves reached 1.5 - 2 m.

Kadyrov is in critical condition
A representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine, Andrei Yusov, said that Kadyrov’s illnesses worsened, which led to a critical condition.
"The information is confirmed from various sources in medical and political circles. This is not about injuries. Other details need further clarification. He has been sick for a long time, and we are talking about systemic health problems."
