Edinburgh should cuff this lot from what I’ve seen so far.
9 & 10 very obviously the weak link so far. The passage of play before the try had 3 final passes not given which was quite frustrating. Why the 10 cross kicked on the penalty....
Would be great if the ref looked at the offside line occasionally as well

Was great play by McInally, Kinghorn and Van der Merwe for that try, well aware of their superior ability vs oppo.Slick wrote: Sat Sep 05, 2020 6:52 pm Edinburgh should cuff this lot from what I’ve seen so far.

I think Edinburgh are benefitting more from the lack of offside officiating, as they are rushing better.
10 needs to get some fucking control here. Edinburgh pretty dominant but spending ages in their own 22. These box kicks are useless they need to make touch and just give everyone a breather away from their own half

Can't believe Dean didn't look on his outside shoulder for Bennett.
Trying to be a bit too cute at the line out plays, a better ref would ping Embra for obstruction in a few instances.
Apart from the slow play by Groom on the breaks, Coetzee keeping Ulster in it. A bit more discipline and Edinburgh should still walk it.

Sorry to bang on about this, but Van der Walt... Jesus.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a top class stand off catch the ball then juggle it into a better position before passing, every time. He is slowing everything down, it’s so shite

I think he's looking good today, great assist for that try and his pass for Dean at the end of the half was sublime.Slick wrote: Sat Sep 05, 2020 7:37 pm Sorry to bang on about this, but Van der Walt... Jesus.

Not usually a fan and agree he's a bit slow usually but playing some good stuff today I think.
He’s had a couple of lovely touches but his basic stand off play is really poor.I like neeps wrote: Sat Sep 05, 2020 7:42 pmI think he's looking good today, great assist for that try and his pass for Dean at the end of the half was sublime.Slick wrote: Sat Sep 05, 2020 7:37 pm Sorry to bang on about this, but Van der Walt... Not sure why Bennett didn't opt for the kick ahead on that break

Agree about the wings, also think Kinghorn is going well.
That's a great step by their wing.
Fair enough. I think his choices of kick have been terribleI like neeps wrote: Sat Sep 05, 2020 7:49 pmI'm not sure think his kicking is great.Slick wrote: Sat Sep 05, 2020 7:45 pmHe’s had a couple of lovely touches but his basic stand off play is really poor.I like neeps wrote: Sat Sep 05, 2020 7:42 pm

It's the Edinburgh tactic for high hanging kick to compete and he does play it well.Slick wrote: Sat Sep 05, 2020 7:51 pmFair enough. Don't get me wrong I don't think he's a great player and don't think on merit he'd get in the Scotland squad but think he's going well tonight.
I know what you mean though rarely attacks the line and looks awkward passing the ball at times.

Great work, much better rugby for that try.
This Edinburgh pack really should be putting Ulster's away

I suppose you are right, if that’s what he is being told to do he is doing it OK. Just seems wrong tonight and you’d hope the 10 could make a decision to changeI like neeps wrote: Sat Sep 05, 2020 7:54 pmIt's the Edinburgh tactic for high hanging kick to compete and he does play it well.Slick wrote: Sat Sep 05, 2020 7:51 pmFair enough. Edinburgh's attack is just far too deep.
Have to say, having watched a fair bit of the English Premiership the last couple of weeks this is miles ahead for entertainment.
PS. Apologies for the loads of posts! I’m on my own this evening and thoroughly enjoying a decent game of rugby after all this time!

Exhausted is being generous. Gilchrist has the energy to get into the tackles and rucks he can make the effort to get out the way. Not sure what he is doing.

Had it coming. Edinburgh's pack is well overhyped. Ritchie and Watson are real class. Schoeman and Sutherland are good. McInally is fine but the rest aren't anything to write home about.
Especially Willemse - he's awful.

Agree. This is the problem with Cockers he'll get you to the knockouts but he won't win when there.Slick wrote: Sat Sep 05, 2020 8:20 pm Well that’s hugely disappointing. Great game mind you.
Edinburgh tactics were woeful in my opinion.
Aside from Dean who isn't great at it there's nobody looking to give Edinburgh width. The backs are so deep they're standing in North Berwick which doesn't help either.

Gilchrist can shoulder a lot of the blame for giving so much momentum to Ulster at the end.
Would've been slaughtered in the final but it's these moments that would just compound any mentality that they aren't good enough to win when it matters.

Aye for his 150th game he let Edinburgh down big time. Gilchrist shows Edinburgh and Scotland's biggest problem. A lot of guys like him Cockers and Scotland coaches have got to overachieve. He is a good player but not great. And in the bigger matches he's exposed.TheNatalShark wrote: Sat Sep 05, 2020 8:27 pm Gilchrist can shoulder a lot of the blame for giving so much momentum to Ulster at the end.

Aye right enough that would be why peak Toulon wanted him as a replacement for Paul O'Connell.
