Oh, FFS.
It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom - for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.

Don’t want to be too controversial early in the tour, but I still maintain England are not a good team and far too many players have media smoke blown up their arse
 thought we would get through the first match at least

Well done pumas - played well.

As if we needed it saying again, but Marcus isn't anywhere near an international fullback.

Thought Daly looked good when he came on.

Struggling to think of any other positives.

Never has been, absolutely no idea why international coaches keep trying to teach him how to be one in Test matches.

Poor match - Lions lacked direction. Pack poor and backs disjointed. Mitchell v poor and both Smiths looked lost and directionless for most of the game. Lions need someone to take control and direct them … Gibson-Park and Russell sorely missed.

Both the England 10’s have an 82% kicking success rate I’ll have you know

Bit odd to pick out F.Smith amd Mitchell for particular criticism IMO.

Earl, VDM, LCD and M Smith all probaly confirmed as dirtrackers after that game.

I’d probably agree with the 2nd bit

The first bit is probably because of this ridiculous media narrative about it being close for the test 10 shirt. It’s not, Fin Smith would probably be 3rd or 4th choice for Scotland at 10 never mind pushing Russell for the starting spot

I don't think that game will.overly impact test selection to be honest.

The main things were starting to see patterns in play and making it to the plane unscathed. It meant way more to Argentina, as it should and they deserved the win.

Some of those guys are still coming off injuries and are only one or a couple of games back so the players will all get at least one more opportunity. The line out was probably the biggest concern.

Hard disagree with that last bit. Smith would be cemented into the 22 shirt.

Well I agree to the extent Russel is clearly going to be the starting 10.

Finn Smith clearly made the right decision about who to play for then

You need your 9 and 10 more than anyone else to exert a bit of control to a game and move the team around the park. Neither did that. Mitchell was just a headless chicken and both kicked some good ball away at the wrong times. There weren’t many backs moves launched by either and when they did the ball was often slow or behind players. I’m kit saying they were the worst performers but having poor disjointed display from 9 and 10 meant the Lions struggled badly to control the game.

Read above, the Sweaties think Fin Smith would be fourth choice flyhalf in Scotland.

Sounds like a number of England halfback pairings over a number of years.

What a joke shop Britain and Ireland are sports wise.

Do you need any more Tier 1 nations to be part of the Lions to win?

Do you need anymore Southern Hemisphere born and bred players to be competitive?

How about we add 5 more games
to the already extensive build up, pre 1st Test to give you some hope of a series victory.

Joke of a tour.

Everything slanted to enable a Lions victory and if you can't beat this woeful Wallabies side you may as well give it up.

Lions my arse....

Truth hurts doesn't it. Sure we lost a Test match but nothing can take away our unparalleled record of 6 World Cups, 1 World Test Championship, and 1 Champions Trophy.

Maybe, the Lions combos will get stronger.

They need Nienaber as defense coach.

Credit to the Pumas. They are much stronger these days.

A lot of turnover ball by the Lions. Doubt they'll be doing that again.

There were too many players forcing offloads that weren't there, and a lot of breakdowns that lacked either support or, if there was support, lacked venom to protect the ball in the face of some pretty determined Argentinian rucking.

It was a very good argument Russell put forwards in the recent final against Leicester, ensuring his team consistently cleared from their half with a strong kicking game. Against which Russell still looks well placed to create tries for both sides, and an awful lot of the good clearance kicking came from Spencer, and Leicester didn't really do enough to stop Muir making a mess of ball in the air.
