Pumas for me. Wouldn't mind either team winning the big one, but a new winner would be good.

The Purple People Eaters punch way above their weight at Craven Week. They are one of the . In the eighties as a youngster I spent many happy afternoons at Kings Park watching Natal play them and SWA in the Currie Cup B section. My dad would give us R5 to buy pies, cokes and sweets while he and his mates got tanked up in the sun. Then he'd drive us home after having drunk way too many beers and cane and cokes.

Pumas look stronger in all areas especially in the tight and set pieces, result depends on if their fitness and if their bench is good enough. It's not a big lead and the Pumas are large units, Griquas could come back and win if they can hold on and improve their accuracy a bit.
Still a close match.

Pumas fullback Devon Williams is good enough to play in the URC or EPCR. Would be nice to see him at the Lions or Cheetahs.

Interesting how tactical kicking has evolved. Warrick Gelant has been great with his low angled kicks off his instep. Its great as an attacking kick because the ball often skids and pops for oncoming runners. Difficult to field as a defender. Sacha Mngomezulu was doing the same yesterday for the Junior Boks. It worked great in the windy conditions.
Remember when the high torpedo kick was the standard. Never see that nowadays. I remember watching Hugh Reece Edwards at Northlands Old Boys in the early eighties kicking huge torpedo punts.

That's awesome bru! Jimmy Stonehouse and his team deserve that after years of being great professionals. Makes Gert Smal's comments look very lame.

Pumas were the better side. The two most consistent sides outside the big 5 over the last 2 decades, Pumas definitely much better.
Both teams were provincial level forwards that battled hard, but both had some interesting players in the backs that could go further.
Pumas:
9 September, could be really good if his service was faster, looks a bit old, so probably at his potential already.
15 Williams, obvious play maker and has the talent to play 10.
Others that looked decent but didn't see enough: 14 Tapiwa Mafura, 18 Simon Raw, 21 Snyman.
Griquas:
14 Hartzenberg, should be playing in the Bok Sevens squad looks like a Sevens forward.
21 Mulder, when he got to work the speed of his service got the Griquas attack moving, the speed of his tap and go pens at the end built momentum and kept the Griquas fighting.
Others that looked decent but didn't see enough: 11 Obi.
