With Italy pressing and having something like 70% possession I said to my wife that if they score England will find it difficult to come back into it as they had been set on the back foot for so long.
She didn't answer and continued to look at her phone.
Mount is basically Goode. Excellent club player, can't do it at international level.JM2K6 wrote: Sun Jul 11, 2021 10:00 pm Ah well. Italy were the better team just about, and certainly a better team at penalties. Can't really complain about the result, even the guy who should've been sent off missed his.
Mount was crap, sadly Saka was even worse, so was Henderson. Only Grealish was a positive off the bench. After a strong first 35, Kane ended up in Chiellini's pocket. Did well to take it to penalties in the end.
Best team in the tournament won it, which is fair enough really.
The good news is all those people who hate England football got their wish and will never have to hear about football again!![]()
Pretty harsh on Rice, who provided plenty of impetus. And on Mount, who deserves his place and has been pretty good up til now - he just had a poor performance in the final. He's usually Mr Reliable and a coach's dream. He's only just become a cracking club player, the guy's only 22 with just two seasons of Premiership football behind him.Hal Jordan wrote: Sun Jul 11, 2021 10:15 pmMount is basically Goode. Rice should be banned from moving past the opposition centre circle, he is clueless in the top part of the pitch. No wonder Kane looked so bloody forlorn, with zero midfield support and Sterling running up blind alleys all night.

He was shattered and we needed a passer, sadly Henderson is a bit of a donkey and did not add anything. Would good to develop someone for that role - Bellingham I guess is the future option there.sturginho wrote: Sun Jul 11, 2021 10:23 pm I thought rice was England's best player so naturally he took him off
They didnโt did they? Deja vu in so many ways.Tattie wrote: Sun Jul 11, 2021 10:26 pm Best team won but England should be proud of their achievements. They even managed to scrape a draw against Scotlandfeel bad for Saka, why give such a huge penalty to a kid?
Ps keep your medals on you disrespectful arseholes.

They did indeed. I know theyโre desperately disappointed but taking it off the second itโs hung round your neck looks a bit - I dunno - entitled?Ymx wrote: Sun Jul 11, 2021 10:29 pmThey didnโt did they? Because he wanted to? The penalty order is decided by the players.Tattie wrote: Sun Jul 11, 2021 10:26 pm Best team won but England should be proud of their achievements. They even managed to scrape a draw against Scotlandfeel bad for Saka, why give such a huge penalty to a kid?

Well maybe not but Olympic silver and bronze medalists donโt whip them off the instant theyโre given them.I like neeps wrote: Sun Jul 11, 2021 10:36 pmBecause he wanted to? I also like players not keeping silver medals. I don't think they should be given them.
They have to take the podium pictures in the Olympics to be fair - I'd be interested how many keep them after.GogLais wrote: Sun Jul 11, 2021 10:42 pmWell maybe not but Olympic silver and bronze medalists donโt whip them off the instant theyโre given them.I like neeps wrote: Sun Jul 11, 2021 10:36 pmBecause he wanted to? It's lucky he won't read any of it as it's all his media agency controlling it. Sport players just shouldn't have social media I think. It's a shame but there's far too many miserable c*nts who achieve nothing with their life and take it out on successful people about.ScarfaceClaw wrote: Sun Jul 11, 2021 11:01 pm The abuse Saka is getting at the moment is horrific. Yeah, it was all quite bizarre, But to Southgate's credit at least he's owned the fuck up.ia801310 wrote: Mon Jul 12, 2021 7:10 am Rashford's penalty was poor. I don't mind if you hit it hard and hit the target and the keeper saves it, but if you mess about and try to be too clever then it is annoying. Not sure why Saka was asked to take the 5th penalty surely there were more experienced players who could step up.
At least our wonderful government won't be able to jump on another populist bandwagon...JM2K6 wrote: Sun Jul 11, 2021 10:00 pm

Because he didn't ask to take one.ScarfaceClaw wrote: Sun Jul 11, 2021 10:00 pm Why didnโt the great English hope Grealish take one? Aside from that, I really do feel for Saka. Thatโs so tough for a 19 year old. Heโll carry that for the rest of his life.
