Is this golden point extra time a trial for this season? I don’t like it

Don't know, but I don't like it either. Canterbury kicks the penalty and wins it in OT.

Missed this one (just up!). Wasn't aware the sudden death pen was in operation this season.

Saw that. Said it was a joke decision. If that stood (hah!), every prep for a conversion would be pinged.

However, as per the Ennor incident, WR (in typical fashion) has f**ked this up too:
This incident was, however, correctly ruled, World Rugby said, issuing this clarification:

“The moment the kicker moves in any direction it is deemed that he is ‘approaching to kick’. The reason for this interpretation is simplicity, otherwise the referee would have to judge when the kicker first moves, and in what direction. It would also be open to misinterpretation by players, match officials and spectators.”

Well bugger me - refs will have to make a fucking decision. How freaking hard is that? He sees them kicking the ball time and again so he knows the motions.

Anyway - BOP up against The Naki has started

Agree.

Wellys' season fell apart quickly enough. Was torn on this one but thought Wellys would pick up after last capitulation but Hawkes look massively organised and powerful this year and in truth, this was a hiding glossed over by 2 late scores for the MIB.

Nah, we have got Ross Filipo.

Gatland was at the Chiefs but he is now Director of Rugby there, and McMillan is staying on as coach.

Hope he don't try his BIL game plan on the Chiefs. Rush defense can work

Northland hosting Waikato tonight. Could be all one-way traffic. Kick off in about 10 minutes.

Looks like the Ykato boys were thinking like you - playing like Taranaki Under 9 girls at the moment and down 14-7

Northland are putting up a bit of a fight, with Rene Ranger cutting Waikato backs apart and running the wing in for an easy try.

14 - 7 after nearly 25mins

We are scared of the big hits - looking up to where the next one is coming from instead of catching the ball. Mistake central but Northland are forcing all of these

Enjoying this game. Not enough box-kicking for my liking though. Hope Northland hang on. 31-28

Had to collect car from garage so missed the game. What the actual f**k?

I thought Northland showed big improvements in hassling Tasman a couple of weeks back but surely not this? :wtf

BTW: this is why NPC is the best club comp in the world.

There was a fire in the belly and toughness in the spirit of the Northland players today, from the old war horse Rene Ranger to the youngest player on debut. Waikato came back hard but Northland refused to buckle.

Here are some short highlights.

An absolute cracker of a match, multiple lead changes, lots of open play and tries, and the result depending on the last kick.

Cheers. I get them on the official site

Like the fact they are proper highlights.

And see Wellys chokers fall again.
