I've noticed that Italy prefer to pass it deep to the flyhalf for a kick rather than let Varney box it. That's a bit limiting for them.

They're just playing to their audience. Dunno where you're based, but it's hard to overstate the extent to which Rassie's behaviour has turned fans here (UK) against SA.
