Is that not how most of them generate revenue? It might be annoying, but they need to make money somehow if browsers aren't paying up front.

I have yet to find a site that it worth turning off my adblocker for. PR still works OK in firefox with an adblocker although the page layout has got worse.
Why? with the numbers going to PR and here, ad revenue will nowhere near cover the costs so may as well enhance the user experience and have no ads.sockwithaticket wrote: Fri Oct 23, 2020 1:53 pm Is that not how most of them generate revenue? Sorry, I meant to the more general point about news sites. Niche, low traffic places where there's little chance recouping cost, yes there's no point.ASMO wrote: Fri Oct 23, 2020 2:00 pmWhy? with the numbers going to PR and here, ad revenue will nowhere near cover the costs so may as well enhance the user experience and have no ads.sockwithaticket wrote: Fri Oct 23, 2020 1:53 pm Is that not how most of them generate revenue? Clearly not traditional revenue in terms of ads or subscriptions.
Only other avenues would be

I personally like to think you are using it as AI training data to create a mad rugby genius. But may only succeed in the mad part.

yeah Blockadblock, i always work around it by using noscript, just put the site on noscript block which will disable their Blockadblock script as well..did it on pr bored too..didn't need to do it here cause this site isn't run by a greedy cunt.
This one could have been so much better. Although I expect it might have fairly outspoken views on covid lockdowns and face masks.Insane_Homer wrote: Fri Oct 23, 2020 4:21 pmYa, all seems fine untilYmx wrote: Fri Oct 23, 2020 2:13 pmI personally like to think you are using it as AI training data to create a mad rugby genius.
