Kyk na jou post bold. Jy veralgemeen sommer nou, waar was ons voorsitter korrup?

Die Wes Kaap is by verre SA se bes bestuurde provinsie.

Vra namens n vriend.
Watter span ondersteun jy?

Aren't they always?
Sometimes the Bulls are kak

The investor hoping to acquire a controlling 51% stake in WP Rugby would look to bring former Springbok coach Peter de Villiers on board.

New York-based MVM Holdings, headed by Durban-raised lawyer Marco Masotti, wants to invest $6-million (almost R100-million) in WP Rugby – $4-million in the Stormers and $2-million in the union.

In an interview with Netwerk24, Masotti said De Villiers, who he described as ‘the lost soul of South African rugby’, could have a role to play.

‘One of our ideas is to involve rugby experts via our planned advisory committee. Peter de Villiers is a former Springbok coach. Where is he? In no man’s land. Surely there is a need [to utilise] his expertise,’ Masotti said.

‘The British & Irish Lions are touring South Africa next year and he is the last coach to beat them. He has something to offer and with his knowledge, he has a role to play still.

‘It is in the interest of the franchise and his views will demand the respect of a certain section of the Stormers’ support base.’

.Stormers are better now, coach Dobson reckons
By Wynona Louw Time of article published 20h ago

CAPE TOWN - For Stormers fans, the wait just may have been worth it.

According to head coach John Dobson, his team are “considerably superior” to the way they were back in March prior to rugby’s suspension.

With contact training not having been permitted during the stricter Covid-19 regulations, the team zoomed in on improving their skills.

This, Dobson believes, will make his group an exciting unit once they get back onto the field.

“That’s the one thing (skills training) we could do from the start, we used to call it our deficits and our X - the deficits are the skills you needed to work on, the X is your party trick, like a chicken-wing offload.

“That’s one thing we’ve really held them accountable for,” he said during a media engagement via Zoom yesterday.

“We worked on the removal of deficits, so those things had to be improved by the time we got back together, and the party trick had to become better. So I hope, across all South African rugby, that that’s where we’re going to see some excitement, especially with the ball.

“The guys are going to struggle at home with tackle technique and to do more snaps, and when it comes to the magic of the hand and that sort of stuff, the hand-eye stuff, we did a whole Sherylle Calder (Eye Gym) course.

“So I’m really hoping that will be better. The way we’ve trained - I’m not talking about the set-piece now - but we would beat the ‘us’ of March. The way we’re training now is considerably superior to the way we were training in March in terms of skill and intensity.”

But while Dobson is looking forward to a sharper expression and execution of flair when rugby kicks off (Currie Cup, October 10, while South African sides will also square off in SuperHero Saturday next weekend and the Springbok Showdown between a Green team and a Gold team on October 3), he is also cautious of the injury threat after more than six months of no rugby.

“We’re massively scared of injury. I don’t think it’s since school - if even then - that the guys have gone six and a half months like this and then straight into some pretty full-on games.

“Watching tomorrow (today when the teams will play three chukkas in preparation for action), watching SuperHero, watching Green and Gold is going to be tough.

“We saw the stats from Bundesliga and various others when they went back,” he said.

“The players are really keen to play mentally, but also really worried about injury.

“We tried to push and to get as close as we could to within the regulations, but it’s very hard to scrum and maul with a mask on properly, so that’s our biggest concern.

“But obviously we want to play.”

Dobson confirmed that Springbok lock Pieter-Steph du Toit, who is still recovering from the rare haematoma he sustained against the Blues in February (which developed into compartment syndrome and nearly cost him his leg), would miss out on the warm-up games and the first two domestic matches.

I doubt that, not since they were relegated to the championship and already have Owen Farrell and Alex Goode in the 10 jersey.

UPDATE: American lawyer Marco V Masotti admitted he is ‘ramping up’ his campaign to get information through to interested parties.

However, he dismissed the suggestions and undertones of reports that his meetings with Western Province clubs have been “clandestine”.

Masotti, a Durban-born, New York-based lawyer, through his consortium MVM Holdings, is in negotiations with WPRFU for a controlling share in WP Professional Rugby (Pty) Ltd, the business arm of the WP Rugby Football Union.

It was confirmed this week that Masotti had online meetings with a number of parties.

“I have been trying to speak to as many people as possible – former coaches, players, business people, club members,” Masotti told @rugby365com.

“I want as many people to know about the proposal, so there are full transparency and information.”

Discarded former WPPR Independent Director André van der Veen confirmed that he “facilitated contact” between the American investors and WP clubs.

He believes there is a lack of information forthcoming from the office of WPRFU President Zelt Marais and clubs don’t get the full picture.

“It was important that they [clubs] speak to Masotti and get the information from him,” Van der Veen said.

“I am not involved in the negotiations anymore,” added Van der Veen, a well-heeled and respected businessman, who was tasked by Marais to find an investor and brought Masotti to the table.

The fall-out of the numerous boardroom battles started in June, when Kevin Kiewitz walked away from the union in protest over their handling of negotiations with Investec.

Then in August two independent directors of the board, Johan van der Merwe and Van der Veen, were told their services were no longer required. Their terms of office came to an end and, at the board AGM, it was decided not to extend their terms.

Van der Merwe was replaced as Chairman of the board of WPPR (Pty) Ltd by political firebrand Ebrahim Rasool.

Early in September Raymond van Niekerk handed in his resignation, ostensibly because he has had enough of the boardroom politics. He indicated that the unwillingness of WPRFU too offer Van der Merwe and Van der Veen new terms was key to the decision.

Despite all the disorder and numerous pitfalls, Masotti is steaming ahead to counter the massive campaign of misinformation being waged.

“I don’t think there is anything clandestine about it,” he said of the suggestions that he is being underhanded.

“I would like to talk to as many people as possible so everyone can evaluate the proposition without all of the noise and misinformation,” Masotti told @rugby365com.

“If any of the clubs want to speak, I am happy to do so.

“They will hopefully be the beneficiary of this deal.”

@king365ed
@rugby365com
I am sure that Zelt and Boeta will not like this at all.

Cape Crusaders won't be happy with the current Superrugby situation. The arrogant NZ rugby president kicked out their front teeth. Unfortunately they don't realize Robinson is from Kunterbury.
