Never forget that's where the rugby culture comes from. If you criticise a province you criticize the schools as well. EP/Border have the black population and a sport like rugby must dig deep and develop that area. Pretty sure that's why SARU try their best to do just that.

Bullshit. Does the EPRU run schools in the Eastern Cape?

If SARU have done their best to develop rugby in EP, what have they achieved? Absolutely nothing. The Kings have gone down the drain just like the Southern Spears did before them. All decent players leave the province as soon as they can. Their union is a complete joke, and now they have a free pass into another tournament so they can get buttfucked by their coastal cousins this time.

Look at this shitshow that has become synonymous with EPRU:

Of course I do. It's a competition that the EPRU barely manages to facilitate a team to enter.

Do you think that equates to them running school rugby in EP?

EP, Border & SWD provinces are part of the Kings.

They play as different teams in Craven Week. Boland is part of Bulls, exct.

Schools is part of the provinces not the franchises.

From a NZ rugby watcher who hasn't read up on SA teams this year... So I see the SA teams aren't playing in Super 16 in Europe so is there going to be a Super Rugby Unlocked in SA like last year this coming winter?

They are playing up north. The Rainbow Cup starts in a few weeks:

You're a pretty optimistic person if you think it is going to go ahead

There will be a complete and utter blood bath for the UK government from the media if SA teams come, nevermind if one member tests positive in an isolation period.

"SHUT THE BORDERS NOW - SA rugboys bring MUTANT virus" - Sun

Ja look, anything can happen between now and then. But at least things are improving in both places, by way of Covid numbers.

As it currently stands, it's going ahead. The Pro14 has already rearranged its calender around the Rainbow Cup, with the first match being tabled for the 17th of April.

Would be great if it could go ahead, but (in my view) pretty much dependent on studies being completed showing the Astrazeneca and Pfizer vaccines offer protection against the predominant strains in SA.

The UK government has built up the narrative that the main Covid threat to the UK is variants from Brazil and SA, and have gone very very hard on that - impossible to backtrack from it. It doesn't matter re number of cases. They've even marked Botswana as a red list country even though it isn't reporting such variant cases.

It's a great day for the $harks. Whilst I'm still not convinced on the signing, it's the symbolism that is quite significant.

To be fair, I never got the impression that Am would remain Springboks first choice. He was only it for world cup because of Kriel's injury right? Even though he would probably be in the squad.

Always thought it was useful having Muller as Captain whilst Smit was away.

"My discussion with Siya was that he must come here and we will treat him unbelievably well, like we do all our players..."

There it is

They want him to regain his form without the pressure of the captaincy.....if he grows into it...so be it....but he would have to convince a team that is firmly behind Am.

To clarify, referring to starting position re Kriel, rather than wider RWC squad. When referring to squad (post world cup) as to Am likely being selected.

Brings back some of the best memories of my life....

Like the time my cousin and I went down to mBotji..had a car full of booze...first night we laid some lines in the river mouth where we managed to park our car...obviously got pissed around the fire and passed out...woke up to a mountain of cans and bottles around us.....they didn't bother to just steal our alcohol ..they had a party and drank it around the car whilst we were passed out....

Next morning felt very dry and bleak until our gillie took us to the local headman who hooked us up with a checkers packet full . ..

We managed to get some amazing Sharks off Sharks point, the best a leopard shark....and it was the best week away ever in my memory

In my mind, Am has leapfrogged Kriel, it was not an injury that forced the move. We still need a world class 13 tho, De Allende is solid at 12.
