Counties v Canterbury underway and 10 - 10 after 30mins, with Counties starting to flex their muscles

Counties man was tackled, placed the ball for his support that was a bit late arriving, so picked the ball up while still on the ground, and popped it to the support player.

Clear penalty to Canterbury

Counties score in injury time and the conversion from the touchline sneaks over to give Counties the win.

Watched that game on Wed (as I do almost every NPC game) christ it was fun, and I can't get over how many games are being won on the siren.
I honestly can say I enjoy NPC more than almost any other rugby anyway, and that includes probably tests and certainly WC (which is ruined somewhat by all the BS).
I know one of NPC's big attractions is that it not the result of months of preseason where you produce players that are robotic, you get mistakes etc, but it's proper rugby.

Finau and Roe the standouts for me. 27 - 12 win by the MooLoo men. Great result for Canterbury

Good win 27-12 to Waikato.

Kiwias,
Yeah, Roe was very good today. Our halfback stocks are looking pretty healthy for next year and beyond. Roigard looks to have a big future, as do Roe and Ratima from Waikato, and also Fakatava. Haven't really seen enough of the highly-rated Noah Hotham yet.... but man, there's some talent in that lot.

Fully agree with that but I am not so confident about our first five stocks looking forward.

EDIT: Another try to Taniwha who now lead 31 - 26

100%. This has been game of the season for it. Better watch than pretty much all the RWC.

Not sure about him as a flanker: ref has ignored everything at the breakdown which has made the game flow but means couldn't really make any serious assessment there. However, I would really be interested to see how he went as a 12.

Canterbury leading Southland 12-7 at HT.

Hope the Stags can keep it close deep into the 2nd half. They've pulled off the odd surprise win (or draw) against the mighty Cantabs over the years.

Southland take the lead 14 - 12 with a try early in the second half

On a trip to NZ in September 2014, I got to watch Canterbury vs Southland at this stadium with FOG from over there on PR and Daniel Carter was coming back from injury so only played the first half. The replacement first five, just a young lad of 20 in his second season, threw a wild pass in the in goal area to gift Southland a late try that won the game for them.

The youngster went on to become the star first five for the Crusaders in their seven consecutive championships. Yep, it was Richie Mo’unga.

I've never really rated Burke that highly, tbh - a tidy, serviceable Supe Rugby 10 and reliable goalkicker much like Bryn Gatland. But he's growing on me. I'm starting to see why you rate him, Kiwias.

I was more than keen but I won't be able to make it mate, sorry. A crazy combination of work not wanting to give me time off with others already away and my wife flying back in from a month in Thailand on that weekend... and expecting some sort of 21 gun red carpet welcoming ceremony complete with gilded unicorns to show my undying gratitude for her safe return.

I am absolutely shocked that you will afford your wife a higher priority than a never-met person from the Internet, shocked to the core.

Enzed and I will have fun anyway watch the good guys take another step toward victory.
