Zebre - Ulster sounds like a bit of a thriller
2nd Zebre try was nice and they have got their offloading game going. Leaky at the back though, as per usual.

Why didn’t Zebre go for the lineout at the end?

11 - 0 in Galway, almost a point a minute, in keeping with the earlier game.

Lions coming back with two tries. Stomps have no-one to make a ruck turnover…..showboater loose forwards.

Makes a pleasant change to actually win our first game of the season.

I wasn't watching but I read they went for a tap, which seems a bit silly if their set pieces were doing the business until then

Munster V Sharks 21 - 7 HT
After getting back in it with a few minutes to go, Sharks made a pigs ear out of catching the restart & got punished by Munster scoring their third try

Dissapointing. But definitely a step up from the previous match in quality.

I think the ref told them they wouldn't get a Pen Try from the scrum and it altered their mindset. Still would have gone for the Line Out though, strange decision making under pressure.

We really need to play to the ref better than this. It's clear what he is calling. Avoid it

The guy does my head in. He costs the Sharks points every time he plays. I know Ox will give me flack for this comment, but he really is crap.

I hope they vok him up later.
Well beaten in the end. Munster a tough and nuggety side.
Plum needs to study the ref interpretation north. Sharks were their own enemies for giving away so many penalties

It doesn't look like there's going to be any great revival of the Welsh teams this year; the Italians might fancy their chances of picking points off them.

Hanekom and Louw looked fantastic today. Bulls pack signings seemed to have made the scrum look a bit better than last season. If they can continue supplying a decent amount of solid ball to the backs the likes of Moody, Arendse and Le Roux can make that backline deadly. It is only 1 game but they look a lot better than the start of last season.

Yeah! I was pleased with that. Lots didn't work well, but five points in the opening game is a cracking start.

A game to make me fall in love with rugby again.
I know the RWC has given us some tense games, but I find it hard to get enthused by the fare in offer - England v SA a case in point.
Give me Glasgow's running rugby anytime. And yes, I know running rugby doesn't win trophies. It's still what made me fall in love with the sport all those years ago.

Not the result we wanted but I didn't think we'd win. Probably the same for next week sadly. Tough ask for our first two fixtures, with a new coach and without our Boks.
Despite the loss, I think there are some positives. There are signs of a more expansive game, albeit it wasn't that well executed. Mchunu looks like he's going to have a monster season. Rohan jvR was immense when he came on, should be starting every game.
