I guess you could say aspects of the refereeing have left a little to be desired

You have to laugh. The commentators have been talking the ref up all game and all the officials have been sh*te.
To add the icing, no way is that a try.

Well done, Canterbury. Hard luck Auckland, did well to keep it so close tbf.

Nah, he looked to have lost it overboard before he grounded it.
That young chap who came on for Canterbury, the DMac lookalike was lucky to still have his head attached after the high in his try.

Classic battle between the two old rivals... game still up for grabs at the hooter despite having looked like a comfortable win with 15 to go.

Yeah, but we are in the age of the Soy Boys, pfft a bit of superglue and duct tape would have fixed her up.
Excuse me just off to check the availability of a metal press, in case we pull off a miracle and do the double

Wgtn ahead 8-7 after 15 minutes.
Man, I hate rolling maul tries, even when we do it.
But I love it when Finau does a chiropractor move on Shields.

Yep, another exciting rolling maul try to close out the half.
Capitalists ahead 25-7.

Too early for me.
This has been one of the tightest NPCs I can recall. Not much difference between all the sides down to Mooloos and even Counties and an under performing Harbour chucking in surprises.

3x now Naki have been too easily beaten to the high ball and this time it costs a try. Can't see Makos changing the kicking tactic whilst they are getting this reward each time.

Not a great ref this one. Shoulda checked the 1st half Naki one and this was clearly a try but needed TMO to make the right call.

Excellent win to the Naki, on the back of terrific defence. And without Perofeta. Really impressive.

Steamers held scoreless in the second half as the Magpies come back to win 38-28.
HB has made a habit of staging come-backs this season.
That was fun!

Semi-finalists decided.
SF1:Taranaki v Canterbury in NP on Friday.
SF2: Wellington v Hawke's Bay in Wgtn on Saturday.
A day trip to the Naki might be on the cards. I'd try to get to both games, if I could afford the petrol.

Some reaction by Magpies after last week. Steamers ran out of steam in 2nd half. Scoreless at home for 40 a bit of a surprise.

SF1 between Taranaki and Canterbury kicking off in New Plymouth in about 15 minutes.
I'm obviously supporting our northern neighbours in this one - Go, Bulls!

I've found Naki's choice to play anyone else ahead of Perofeta at FB odd.

Naki need to make this pressure count. Cant giving away judicious pens on their own line. Masters of the craft.

Yep, they can't pin Canterbury deep in their own half for ages and not score.

Not smart that by Naki. Overplaying the hand in own 22 and gift Cant 3 easy points in a tight game.

Taranaki ahead 11-9 at HT.
Given their territorial advantage, the Naki's lead should be a lot more than that. But Canterbury's defence has been very good.

Given the quality of a lot of the Naki play, they should easily be 10~15 points ahead
