An "Engineering" Puzzle

Hi budding designers. Here's a problem to solve.

You are to throw a raw (uncooked) egg out of a window, from at least the second floor of a building, without it breaking.

Your challenge is to get it the furthest away from the other competitors, within your encasement.

You are provided with
Cardboard (as much as you need of packaging quality).
Drinking straws (the non bendy type)
Straw (dried grass)
Sellotape (as much as you need).

Come up with a design.

I'm sole judge.

And you don't know the answer. Do you?

The egg has to travel the furthest. Not the same as dropping it vertically.

You actually don't have to use straws. Think on and try to solve this instead of using your usual pathetic pop at me.

Yep. I was right. You have no idea have you? Try to solve the puzzle without a reference to me.

Some incredible engineering by any standard though.

Nah. It's the failure of the Google boys who cannot find a decent answer.

I'd say, have a go. I'll tell you what you want to get right.

Wrap it up in all the packing stuff and boot it out the window whilst laughing maniacally at your competitors who you have sellotaped up, with straws in their mouths to breath, writhing on the floor.

Collect trophy and drink Champagne.

Terribly sorry "old bean" but you can add all the ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ you like. You don't have a clue. Do try not to post your ignorance. Try an attempt at an answer.

I doubt you can. That says at lot about you. Not me.

You do realise this is the sort of experiment that basically everyone has done at least once in their school room physics classes? It's not some sort of deep thought exercise.

Actually I'm more interested in your answer. I've a few ideas, but I want to know what the actual challenge is in terms of what you think is best, seeing as you've placed yourself as sole judge.

I really don't mind if a poster gets a good solution. It may be better than mine. It's for entertainment during lockdown but certain posters think it a good idea to have a go at me.

I'm a sailor. I've weathered plenty of storms in my time. Water off a duck's back.

Forget about me. Just have a solution of such.

Happy to let others judge really. It's the thought process that interests me. I was given this challenge at a conference centre up the A1. I bunged my effort from three floors up, against another five teams of six.

But mine might not be ideal. I'll hang fire. Nobody as yet has put up a possibility.

Don't have an interest in it SaintK. I care nothing about your opinions. You have a go at me, not the puzzle.

That puts you right down the ladder. You are coming across as a student in a basement under tier 4.

For goodness' sake, grow up. You are in for intellectual slaughter on here.

You are some of the rot that has set in. Lacking in sense of humour is a starter.
