Lions to Australia?

Rugby Australia has offered to host the Lions series this summer. Might make sense.

Would have crowds and the Aussies won’t go after a revenue share.

Strange concept, logistical nightmare and political dynamite. So no issues at all, really

Sounds good to me! Covid19 secure, teams would need to isolate for 14 days but same for both, would mean crowds at games, Aussies could do logistics no problem, same travel time and clock change for both, Aussie winter would suit ... just tv times but kick offs would be adjusted for UK and SA audiences. Game on!

They won't get any tourists though but I suppose it is better than no crowds at all.

Our cases are down and the first vaccines arrive today.

Let's hope we'll have the tour in a rugby country where it's suppose to be.

I agree. By July most of the Lions tourists will be vaccinated too.

Go ahead with the tour, even in half-full stadiums if they must.

Or postpone. But don't play it in Australia

The Lions are due to tour Oz in 2025, due to the extraordinary circumstances it might make sense to swap the tours around and then go to South Africa in four years time.

If South Africa is going to be as Covid-free as Australia by late June then keep things as they are, but how likely is that?

The Wallabies have a tour scheduled against France in July, plus there is the Blesidloe Cup, so quickly re-arranging a Lions tour is not going to be without its problems.

Play Bledisloe games on Monday afternoons.

We are only receiving 500 000 vaccines now....the balance of 500 000 later this year......we have a population of 50 million....

There is no way on Gods earth that we will be a safe destination .

Lions Tour party may be vaccinated but who knows what strains, perhaps not protected by the vaccine, may be circulating in SA if their vaccination programme is still in infancy? Why expose Tour party to this or even worse allow them to export it back to UK. I suspect international travel will still be very limited in the summer, particularly if it means 25,000 Lions supporters going wild in SA which will have not vaccinated the majority of its pop by then! Aussie for me.

Put both on 8 pm Saturday, no problemo.

3 hours time difference east coast to west coast ... so no overlap.

Would be Trophée des Bicentenaires followed by Bok-Lions :ugeek:

It looks so good that they are even thinking about putting a team with Aus-Fra players against the Lions-Irish.

Yes, I'd definitely go to one of these in Brisbane, should it happen.
