I also drove past his birthplace in Jamaica.
I was at The Lyceum when that was recorded.
I also saw him at the Finsbury Park Astoria (The Rainbow), Hammersmith Odeon and Victoria Palace.

Much as I tried, I just cannot get into reggae, but even saying that I could easily recognise just what a musician he was and how far his influence spread.

One of the strangest TV moments of my life was watching the ultra right wing Tory, Sir Teddy Taylor (a lifelong Eurosceptic and leading member of the Monday Club who wanted to bring back capital punishment) waxing lyrical about his love of Bob Marley’s music on Have I Got News for You. It was completely unexpected and for once rendered Hislop and Merton speechless
Apparently, as a result of his appearance on HIGNIFY, he was invited to present the prizes at the British Reggae Awards a week later, an invitation which he accepted!
